The cymbals leave a bit to be desired, but if your little one is serious about percussion, you could always upgrade those. It feels very sturdy, and sounds awesome, particularly the snare. Definately want to replace the cymbals if your kid is really into it. The heads aren't too bad, but probably best to replace those too later on. Value Was this item an overall good value? No wonder they're affordable Sound How is the tone? The drums sound as good as my full size set. I had heard about the issue with the cymbals so I found a used pair of 10" zildjian hi-hats, 10 Paste splash as replacements and added a 16" crash for use as a ride. It's a sweet set up. I envy my 4 year old daughter. Value Was this item an overall good value? When Ashley outgrows this set it'll go to her mom's 2nd grade classroom. What a great thing for kids to be exposed to. Maybe we all could help out our public schools by donating our our grown instruments to them. Stretching the payments out over three months made it a lot easier on the wallet. This stuff,as with everything else, is made in china.
