Product Rating Product Review Unless you are running mac osx 10.8 (introduced in 2012), the Mackie is not compatible with any newer operating system. So the mixer can't talk to the computer via the firewire as it is advertised to be able to. Mackie is uncaring and unhelpful as to when they MIGHT introduce updated drivers. He suggested that I get the old OS and run it on a partition drive so that the mixer would work, but then Logic Pro X wouldn't work with THAT OS. Stay away.

Your general opinion of this product. I was really impressed with the sound right out of the box. I setup and recorded right away, choosing to not add any EQ and my drum sounds came out very very warm I love it!! Mackie all the way... this unit is heavy but because its made out of metal and is very sturdy, all knobs and faders feel nice. Ease of use is very simple as long as you understand how to operate a mixing board. Recording is mainly why I chose this. But I am looking very forward to using it live soon. The sound is amazing. Very low noise and gives your recording the warmth they need in today's digital world. I have only had the unit for 2 months. Have had no issues and I am not anticipating any.

very very well made. built like a tank All features are great, with the exception to it not having daw controls, which means that you cannot mixdown using the knobs and faders on the mixer itself. if you buy the one with the Firewire card, then it's basically a plug-n-play type of installation. easy pease lemon squeezy the mic pres are great, huge headroom even when it's going straight to the recording software. really well, I've notice almost no problems over time. Your general opinion of this product. well built, mackie quality and mic pres are actually the best "cheap" mic pres I've used.

Not compatible with all DAWs

Well built, Its a Mackie. This is an excellent pdoduct if used for live recording. If you are planning on multi tracking with this forget it. Routing and direct monitoring with Sonar 8.5 is impossible. The latency is just overwhelming. I cant find anyway around the problem and Mackie pushes the buck to Sonar. Getting ahold of Sonar on the phone is virtually impossible. The tone is awesome. The Onyx Preamps are top notch. Just bought it. I imagine with plenty of TLC it would last a lifetime. Your general opinion of this product. Great sound. Well built. Its a Mackie.
