This is a well made unit. Rugged and fashionable

What do you consider to be the best features of this product? What features would you add to this product if you could?
The best features of the unit are the hiamp controls and the ability to USB to my computer. The output sound quality is excellent. There are two monitor outputs as well.
Ease of Use
How easy is this product to use? How easy is the product to use with other products? Did it take long for you to learn to use this product? Was the manual helpful? How playable do you consider this product to be?
The manual is great. Has a little humor biult in and describes the funtion of each item and feature very well. User friendly. I couple this unit with a Behringer DSP8024 active EQ and FB killer. That just rounds this whole system out perfectly.
Sound
How is the tone?
The tone quality is awesome. I had three other units a Yamaha, Behringer and a Soundcraft. They did not have the warmth that the ProFX16 hasnaturally. They had to be colored more.
Reliability
How has it stood up over time?
So far it ahs been great no problems
Overall
Your general opinion of this product.
I would recommend this unit to all my musician friends.

For me the Sub Mix section,I can now send a channel to the sub mix via 1/2 or 3/4 button and then send that sound to my hard disc recorder via a line out of the sub out section. love it!!!!!!!!! Also I like the usb connection to my laptop,I use a different software than the one provided but the connection is great.

I have used the CR1604 by mackie in my studio since the ninety's and this one is just as good as the first one.The only thing I a concern about is that it only has 2 AUX Returns and the CR1604 had 4.But Didn't use one of them any how so I'm Good with the 2.

Great Board, Limited Effects

This board has two minor flaws (mainly a loose fitting plastic AC input jack), but otherwise it seems solid and has good quality faders/knobs. The EQ faders seem a little cheap, but I guess you have to expect something a little lesser than the main faders for the EQ.

It has most things you'll need for live sound mixing. But I warn you about the effects, they are very limited and some are useless. #1-4 are too short and can't be decerned easily (is it on?) #5-6 have a low-fi sounding decay (sounds bad), 7 - is the best short reverb, #8 is a good long reverb, the rest are pretty good and might prove useful or prefered by others. The main problem is, you can't adjust parameters. I knew this going in, but I trusted Mackie to have a better selection of effects. (more usable) I misplaced my trust obviously. Mackie effects are not the worst I've heard, but not the best either.

Very simple design, easy to get use to. Anyone with some mixing board experience will jump right in. Newbies will have a short, shallow learning curve. You should have it "mastered" within an hour or less. I didn't need the manual, though others might. Logical layout, standard design.
Sound
How is the tone?
Great tone, very quiet. Very usable EQ on each channel. The compressor was very subtle but seemed to work well (I set it at 1 o'clock). I think this is an improvement over past units and I'm going to keep this board for a long while. It does what I bought it to do and serves it's purpose well. Poor effects selection, but there are not 99 programs to scroll through. (tit for tat)
Reliability
How has it stood up over time?
Had it less than a month...so time will tell. An older Mackie board I owned lasted 3 years on the road before the XLR inputs on each channel began having issues. I sold it after 2 XLRs failed completely. (6 years later)...This one seems to be made of better components.

If you're looking for a good quality board that does most things "all-in-one", this board will do the job nicely. If you're looking for stellar effects, look elsewhere.
