Great variety of sounds from this snare depending on how you like to tune it. It's deep and fat when tuned low and loose but surprisingly quite snappy when tuned tight and high. I love it and the price is amazing! I've had it for a few months now and can't get enough of playing it. Beautiful, full and fat tone!

You're not going to beat this deal. I replaced top head with Genera HD Dry - this thing is deep and snappy! I've gotten compliments from drummers with several hundred dollar snares. AMS is killing it RN.

This thing is sweet! I wanted to get a nice poppy tight almost marching band snake sound! Got exactly what I wanted! I played with tuning it and can get that deep punch sound as well! Top knotch for the price for sure!

I recently upgraded to an older set of Mapex Pro-Ms and when I saw a Maple 8 inch snare from Mapex, all blacked out, I couldn't help myself. The drum is as beautiful as my lacquered red set, and the black finishes just stand out!!!

I've changed the snare wires to pure sound snare wire and placed an Evans G1 batter head on this drum which enhanced the sound towards my desired results. However, it sounded great right out of the box once l tuned it. Nice price on an all maple, 10 lug drum.

I love everything about this snare! The tone is perfect and it is easily tuned! I’ve used this snare for a live recording and the engineers raves about how easy it was mix and how they didn’t need to do excessive EQing etc! This drum is way under priced for what it is! Get one ASAP

EXCELLENT SNARE DRUM. I Owen several snare drums as I have been drumimg since 1980 & this is by far my favorite. Don't let the price fool you,this drum has plenty of punch & a nice clean snap. I play very loud & agrrive punk rock & thrash metal! It cuts right through those marshall stacks cranked to 11.it has great tone and is very responsive it looks great too! Add all this with 3 day delivery & AMS play now pay later plan...what else can I say???

Don’t let the price fool you. This thing is an absolute cannon. The tone is so lovely, nice beefy rim shots. Good drum for someone on a budget that still wants a good sound. My only complaint is literally that the powder coating on the hoops will come off easily. I have a few chips already from a 3 hour session.

This is a GREAT DRUM for the money. I took my time tuning it trying different tensions top and bottom until I found the best sound (for me). Always wanted a deep snare for certain music. I have two other snare drums but this is fast becoming my favorite and like I said the price compared to other deep snares is GREAT. When I become famous (HaHa) I'll buy an expensive deep drum but I don't thing it will sound 100% better than this one.

This snare gets 5 stars.... You put a lil TLC in the druM... ur going to be very happy, so far I changed the druM head and snare wire. Killer!!! Some might go as far as changing hoops and hardware also, but great snare for the money... Very happy, and with AMS play now pay later deal... U can't say no to that.

I bought this not knowing what to expect when it came in I was excited. First day got it tuned up and haven’t stopped playing on it since. Well worth it! I purchased it with the three step payments to see how I would like it cause every website is different but it also is a smooth process. I will be buying more gear in the future.

I purchased this knowing I would be upgrading the hoops, snares, tension rods and heads. That being said It's a really decent snare under $400. I wanted a project vs just buying the same snare many other people use. I put brass diecast hoops,brass DW 20 strand true-tone snare wire, brass tension rods, Remo hazy res head and Evans G1 coated batter.

So I purchase this snare about 2 weeks ago and I have to tell you. This is one of the best snare drums I’ve ever had!! The sound is amazing nice and fat !!! I recommend this snare to anyone. Only one thing I had to do was replace the top head.

A great value! Sounds better to me than the 8" deep DW Collectors I had and sold. It's fine as is but I added thick hoops, aftermarket heads and wires and it sounds amazing. The throwoff looks nothing fancy but works really great. Been playing 50 years so I've ploayed a few.

Your general opinion of this product.
For the price this drum is well worth the investment. The sound is great after I put on an Evans dry Snare batter head and Evans snare side head. This is ONLY personal preference it sounded ok with the REMO heads it came with. I play all styles of Rock and it serves well beyond it's expectations.
It is made very well and it is very dependable.
I would add a heavy duty strainer. The depth 8" gives this drum a fantastic sound.
Booming and cuts right through.
I was looking for a Natural color as that is what my Mapex Pro M Series are but the Black looks very cool also.
