Sound is top notch. I've been playing guitar for 48 years. I've owned and played vintage amps from Fender and Gibson as well as Marshall Silver Jubilees.
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?

The price point for Marshall tone is truly unbelievable. I'm moving beyond the beginner stage, and wanted a quality amp that was easy to use. This was well beyond my expectations.

These are great little amps. In fact, this is my third one! The stock speaker in the combo is a great match with the amp. It does need to be played loudly to sound its best - just like a vintage Marshall, however the low volume switch works great to bring it down at home.

The combo is solid, and upgraded from the first run of these amps. The first run was woofy and had resonance issues and some of the combos experienced some rattling. This issue has been resolved. No issues with that at all with the newer version.
Reliability
How has it stood up over time?
I have only owned the combo for a few weeks so I can not speak on the matter of reliability.

This is a great amp if you can use it in a loud environment. To get the Plexi tone that so many seek, you'll need to crank this amp up and enjoy!

The combo comes in the limited color of red. The red tolex looks great, however the gold piping does not meet and is loose in places.

Amp has "basic" controls.....Volume, treble, middle,bass.....Quite acceptable for my tastes.....Will use my Digitech Pedal to obtain "modeling"/effect sounds.....

Tone depends on how one adjusts controls.....I am still "experimenting" at this point.....Once again, this Marshall Class 5 produces sounds that are only obtainable with valves.....

The build of this second round of C5s is perfect. I have both the creme color first edition and the red second edition. The easy to acces tubes and the low power option are great additions. And the unit is definitely built more solid this time around also.

The new version C5-01 has a redesigned baffle, no rattles. The amp is 12mm birch plywood with 18mm joints which is perfect for holding the 5 watt chassis and 10 inch speaker. The covering is well done and has no ugly corners or seams.

I am extremely happy with my Class 5. In fact I have been waiting a long time for Marshall to come out with a 5 watt amp. As we all know this is class A not AB like all other tube Marshalls but they have still made it sound like a Marshall!
