Action
How was the action out of the box?
Action was great. nice low action with no fret buzz anywhere.
Quality
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
yes - very dependable. I gig and practice with it at least 3 times a week and it has never failed me.
Reliability
How has it stood up over time?
I have owned the DCPA4 for about a year now and have never had any trouble with it.
General
Your general opinion of this product.
Best guitar I have ever owned. I have a Taylor 410ce and a Gibson Songwriter. I prefer my Martin over either of these two.
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
Guitar feels like a natural extension of my hands. Comfortable and easy to play. Frets well and action was great right out of the box. Tuner is also very nice!
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
I love the tone unplugged. Sounds like a Martin. But when I plug it in to my Fishman Loudbox the color comes alive. This guitar will do whatever you want it to do .
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
Finish was perfect. No flaws.

USA, folks. Out of the box, you can tell that someone took pride in making this little gem absolutely perfect.
Reliability
How has it stood up over time?
This is a Martin. I expect it to outlive my great-grandchildren, and to sound better when they give it to their great-grandchildren than it does now (and now it's unbeatable).
General
Your general opinion of this product.
This is the lightest, loudest (for its size and even compared with its bigger, non-OM brethren, te DCP4A), best-made, and most comfortable instrument in its class. No guitar is a Swiss-Army knife, but this instrument almost makes you want to remain perfectly monogamous.
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
Without parallel. The Analog F1 stays almost completely out of the way. When comparing it to Martins that cost twice the price (because of the electronics), you have to ask yourself whether you want a perfect acoustic or whether you want Garageband inside your guitar. A TC Electronics "Hall of Fame" reverb pedal (which is perfect for both electric and acoustic) make this a powerhouse for a thousand dollars less than the aforementioned "Garageband" Martins.
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
A touch brighter than the DCP4A, but without losing the smoothness and the bass that make this what I consider to be the consummate Martin player.
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
The spruce has the polished and perfect look that we've come to expect. The sapele is satin, and quite lovely. Even the finish makes this guitar feel like your favorite pair of jeans.
Action
How was the action out of the box?
Unbeatable action. The action on this little bombshell of a guitar has the same level of forgiveness as my Les Paul.

Just like everything Martin makes this guitar is extremely well built. I especially like the scalloped bracing, it really helps with projection.

I'll have to get back with ya in a decade or so.

Your general opinion of this product.
Worth every dime, and then some. I think I may be a Martin man now.
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
The neck is pretty fast. I have small hands, so i find it alot easier to play than my Guild.
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
Again it is very well balanced the Sapele is a bit brighter than rosewood. More comparible to Mahogany. I'm actually in awe that this sound came for less than $2000
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
Beautiful yet simple. I love the Satin back and sides.
Action
How was the action out of the box?
Action is spot on. Maybe even a bit low for me. Crossover guitarist will love it.

Very light guitar, neck is quick and controls are at your fingertips when adjustments are needed

Action
How was the action out of the box?
Needed a qucik tune out of the box, took me a little getting used to as i've been playing jumbo's for a few years; it's been a few months now and i'm quite happy with the action of this guitar. No set up needed to date.

You can tell that a lot of care went into making this guitar. The wood smells like it was just cut! The fit and finish are perfect and I expect this guitar to outlast me.

It's only been 2 months - talk to me in 20 years.

Your general opinion of this product.
This guitar is a tone monster. For around $1200 you get a solid wood, American Made Martin! Feels good and plays like a dream after a partial setup. When it was delivered the action was so high it was a challenge playing a barre chord at the 5th fret. After a minor neck tweak (1/4 turn to the right) it brought the action down enough to barre at the 10th fret. No problem since most all guitars need a setup when new.
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
It's a very light guitar. The neck is fast and somewhat rounded, almost like a 50's rounded neck on a Les Paul but thinner. Volume and tone controls are easily accessible and the tuner is easy to see and use.
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
Martin tone - even plugged in! Bass lines really stand out, the sound is the sound of quality!
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
The top has a glossy finish and the rest of the guitar is satin. I have heard some players waxed the back and sides and buffed it out to a beautiful shine. YMMV
As for me, I like it the way it is.
Action
How was the action out of the box?
Out of the box the action sucked, but I didn't expect it to be great without a good setup. I had to tweak the neck for it to be playable at the 5th fret but it's still not where I want it to be. It's going in for a professional setup here shortly and I'm replacing the nut and bridge with bone instead of corian which came with it
