I wasn’t sure what acoustic guitar to buy and if I actually would like it, but I said I would start with a little one and work my way up to a bigger one if I enjoyed playing it, and soon I’ll be upgrading to a bigger Martin and I will still continue playing this one as well.

I have a number of electrics but wanted to add an acoustic. Martin was the first name I thought of, but because I would not be touring with this guitar, price was a consideration. The quality and tone of the little Martin was far more than I expected. I find myself doing most of my writing on the LX1.

I've had a lifelong dream to learn how to play the guitar. I borrowed full size guitars from friends and took lessons but had a lot of trouble with the size of the guitar. I didn't enjoy the experience and gave up multiple times. I love this size. I can practice without everything hurting (wrists, shoulders, back). I'm only a beginner, but the sound is clear and I'm really enjoying my lessons and practicing now. With this guitar, I will actually learn to play!

Just a really great sounding guitar. The neck is fantastic and action is fairly low, as an electric guy I could always prefer lower, lol. Fit and finish just makes you think it would cost more than it does.
It's not perfect by any means, mine was missing the strap peg for the bottom but AMS made it right and the guitar just feels so good I couldn't send it back,I didn't want to roll the dice.
I was about to order the peg through Martin warranty but had a friend after telling him about it, had the part. So it all worked out, which have zero doubts Martin would have took care of it.
Highly recommend for a travel/parlor type guitar and highly recommend AMS, just a great company.

An extraordinary guitar, yet perhaps just normal for Martin. I love this thing. It is easy to play, easy to travel with, and the sound is just fantastic. I have had my LX1 for 14 years now, and it seems to get even better with age. Every 5 years or so I take it to the guitar store for a look over and possible neck adjustment. It is truly a guitar that will provide rich enjoyment for an entire lifetime, and at what a price! The best part is that this guitar sounds so good that you will want to keep playing it and that's how you get better more quickly.

I bought this guitar for my 15 year old daughter, and she loves it! She previously owned a full size Yamaha guitar and it was difficult for her to play because of it’s size. This little Martin guitar is beautiful, sounds amazing, and it’s the perfect size for her. She was so excited to get it!

Bought for my daughter as a beginner guitar so as to not have any size limitations. Solid construction, projection is nice though not as deep on the bottom end as a full size model. Great single note clarity.

I have played guitar for 40 years and was looking for a nice little travel guitar. I have to say that this is one exceptional guitar. From the moment I picked it up I couldn't believe what you get for the money! The sound is nice and full, the action is easy and the fit and finish is fantastic. I highly recommend this guitar to any player of any level.

About the only thing I wasn't fond of was the wood used for the neck although it is shaped good and it plays well I would of preferred mahogany as it would look a lot better.

This is a great little guitar. Plays like a dream and has a rich, tight tone. It also has good overall projection and is alot of guitar for under $300.00. I keep this guitar in the back seat of my car and play whenever I have a few free moments. The neck fits comfortably in your hand and the solid Sitka spruce top produces great tone and surprising volume. If you are looking for a small guitar, for travel, camping, or for a youngster to learn on, this is the guitar for you!
Seems to be well made. And although it is smaller and built outside the US, it has the world famous Martin build quality and is a great value. I think you can play many styles of music with this little guitar. It sounds great with a pick or finger style. Chords sound full and complex, and single notes ring clear and true. If you can play it on a full size acoustic, you can play it on this little gem as well.
Smaller body style makes this guitar very comfortable to play. Action is just right out of the box, and it comes with high end Martin strings. Perfect to just pick up and play, no hassles no worries, and it stays in tune very well, too.
Great Martin tone. Very balanced sound. Lows are deep and rich, highs are clear and tight. This guitar projects well, especially for such a small body. If you need more volume and projection, Martin makes this same guitar as an acoustic/ electric, so you can plug into and amp and play as loud as you want! But this guitar is perfect for playing around the campfire doing sing-a-longs and is a GREAT guitar for practice.
Finish is good on this guitar. Don't expect a "show" guitar. The top has some imperfections, but they are merely cosmetic and do not affect the sound of the guitar at all.
This guitar is more then I expected at this price point. I have played many Martin backpackers, and they don't hold a candle to this guitar. I don't think you can buy a better guitar in this price range. Seriously, if you need a smaller, travel guitar, this is it. Buy it, you will not regret it.
Perfect action out of the box.This guitar is very easy to play, and everything feels the same up and down the neck as a full size guitar. And the sweet Martin gig bag is an added bonus! Looks great and does a good job of protecting this kick-ass little guitar!
