General Your general opinion of this product. I bought both the Maxon 808 and OD9 from AMS. The 808 is for the studio, the OD9 is for the stage. The 808 has a smoother tone. Less aggressive upper mid range, a good thing, and a little more low end compared to the OD9. The difference is minor but there. The 808 is not true bypass and adds noise to your signal when it is off. On switch is a small button. The OD9 is true bypass, silent when off. It has a tool-less battery pack access, a larger stomp pedal, and painted markers on the nobs. Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? Built well but not as convenient as the modern OD9. Playability and Feel How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? Light weight, sturdy. Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? Perfect pedal for my Fryette D120 and D412. I can get a modern metal sound that is actually full and balanced. Tight and crunchy at low drive levels, bigger and thicker with the drive cranked up. Action How was the action out of the box? NA Finish How did the stain or paint job look? No scratches or imperfections. Reliability How has it stood up over time? New.
It's not just hype...

Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? Seems sturdy... Reliability How has it stood up over time? ...and reliable General Your general opinion of this product. There are alot of overdrive pedals out there. I personally own about 15 or so. I also own several amps. Now that being said,I use different OD pedals with different heads and amps. I use this particular one to give my 100 watt Carvin V3 head a gain boost and it's always on,with the exception of songs with clean parts. Playability and Feel How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? N/A Finish How did the stain or paint job look? Nice paint job - typical overdrive green. Action How was the action out of the box?
