I enjoy this mic so much that I bought 2. The features that stand out to me the most is polar patter options on the back , and the fact that you can use it on any vocalist and get a clean signal with out distortion. This mic captures wonderful frequencies that makes the mixing process very easy. This mic meets my expectations by far! If you don't have one in your collection your missing out!

I really love this microphone! Before this, I had the TLM-103, which I also loved. I got pretty good sound with the 103, but I wanted to try to take my vocals to the next level. What I noticed is that with the U87, you get a slightly warmer sound, while maintaining the high and sparkle and clarity. It’s basically a large diaphragm condenser mic, rather than a small diaphragm condenser mic such as the TLM 103. So to me it was worth the investment and I will keep this microphone in my collection and definitely! Of course good mic technique, a good vocalist, and a nice microphone preamp also will help round out the quality of your sound, but overall, I have been very pleased with this microphone, I don’t think you can go wrong with it!

I’ve used the vintage u87 for years at my job and finally decided to spring for one of my own. I admit, I hesitated because I was worried about the quality compared to the vintage that I loved. All my doubts melted away after my first session with the new u87. It sounds really, really good and I couldn’t be happier with my purchase. You won’t be disappointed!

I upgraded from the TLM 103. The sibilants on the TLM 103 were harsh. I borrowed a friend’s U87 and decided that the upgrade was well worth it. S/N do not use the hi pass filter on vocals, I had to learn the hard way.

The most historic microphone. Purchase it if you're able to.
The microphone will not make your music perfect though. You still have to put in the work to create a quality product.

I have used many different microphones over the years. Mics are suited best to the situation they are used in. I have used a Neumann U87ai years ago, and I finally decided to take the plunge and purchase my own.
The microphone shipped quickly and the AMS representatives were really nice to deal with.
The microphone sounds just like I remember the other one!
