The tone is great. I have a guitar amp with a closed back 212 cabinet that shoots the sound past my legs and not to my ears. Using the line out from the amp to the monitor corrects this. I have read several negative reviews. Perhaps the problem with this monitor is incompatability with some equipment. also this is a porered MONITOR not a powered Speaker
