Broke Musician Buys 1200$ Amp
Quality:
It's built very well. Solid as a rock.
Reliability:
I've only had it for a few days. Still 100%
Overall:
This thing will melt your face off. Better than Marshall and Mesa. You don't just pay for a name with Peavey.
Playability and Feel:
Controls are very simple and easy to use. Knobs are very sensitive, endless tone possiblities. You don't have to turn it from 1 to 5 before you hear a difference. It's more like 1 to 1.25 to start shaping tone drastically.
Tone:
FACE MELTING.I've never been satisfied with straight off the head distortion. I'm running stereo through a cheap B-52 LS 4x12 cab. It's very professional sounding if that makes sense. It made my tried and true distortion pedal useless. I play metal. It's the perfect amp for me. The clean tone you get on the rythm channel is very thin, but if you keep the pre-gain on 0 and hit the crunch button you get a very warm clean tone that is crisp and clear as a bell.
Finish:
It's a cool lookin' amp, but the white on the faceplate and the 6505+ logo is about a quarter of the brightness as it is on the display pic above. It's kinda dark and hidden behind the metal mesh. No biggie though.

6505+ is a beast!
Quality:
This amp is very well made, in the USA. Peavey has a long history of quality products, particularly the USA made stuff. More importantly, if there is ever an issue, Peavey's customer service and support is second to none.
Sound:
The tone is outstanding. The eq's work very well, as do the presence/resonance controls. There is more than enough gain on both channels to satisfy any musical taste. This amp really excels at low tunings. Drop c tuning is incredibly stunning, and remains articulate!
Reliability:
I have only had this amp for a short period of time, but if it is anything like my 5150, with reasonable care, it will operate normally for a long time to come. I bought my 5150 new in 1999, and it is as good today, as it was when I brought it home.
Overall:
The 6505+ is basically a 5150, only better. With the addition of seperate eq's and resonance/presence controls for each channel, I think Peavey hit a home run with this one. I can get ANY tone I need out of this amp, with the exception of Fender clean.
Playability and Feel:
It feels great when that heavy chunk is drop kicking you in the chest!
Tone:
This is a pretty versatile amp. With a little time to familiarize myself with the controls, and a little bit of experimentation, I am able to get ANY tone I need out of this amp, with the exception of Fender clean. If I need that, I use my Super Sonic 100. Problem solved.
Finish:
Typical USA Peavey product. Looks great.
