Very impressed with the quality of distortion from this amp. Running in through a Mesa 2x12 l and it sounds fantastic. Lots of variation and control with the mid and high as well as resonance and presence. Running a boost (precision drive) but no additional gain needed, just for tighter sound and it’s built in noise gate. Excellent metal amp!
Lightning fast shipping through American Musical as always.

Tones from absolute pristine to full thick crunch to scorching monter.

Beautiful silence in channel one (1), very high overhead capacity, simple serene. Then kick on 'crunch', thick, chucky, full, but with total tone control. Then there is Channel Two (2), scorching monster but simply slightly dialing back on the guitar volume knob. Cleans up very nicely, total tone control. THE PEAVEY 6505 MH, at full volume (20W) will blow your mind (wonderful). But there are three (3) output Wattage control settings (attenuation). 20W, 5W and 1W. Perfect 'Effects loop. There is more.

I love this Amp! I have several amps but this 6505 amp really gives me the sounds of inspiration. It has a much MUCH better clean than my Marshall triple superlead (better high gain too lol!) and it's high gain sound is similar to a hot Rodded Soldono! The direct out is amazing and response of the tubes make it a blast to plug in. I also have a Kemper with several 6505 profiles....but much funner to play real tubes. I LOVE IT!!??

One of the most versatile amps for it size and price range. Clean channel is better than expected. Also.. you can get some amazing blues tones out of this. But the lead channel is so organic and rich in metal tones, I can see why so many bands use the big brother of this amp.

I was looking for an amp that can give me a great metal tone and whenever this topic came up, the Peavy Amps like the 6505+ and the 5150 always come up. So then I started looking into the MH head.
I was attracted by the price, the size and what everyone had to say about it. I had played through the 5150 III before and thought the leads were really good and the tone was killer. What attracted me most I think was the gain rating that these amps have. I was pleasantly surprised at how much power this thing actually has. I play music in the neighborhood of Lamb of God, Slayer, Randy Rhoads style leads, Pantera etc. It’s totally versatile and can do much more. I like that it came with a well made foot switch and the amp head is light weight, compact and carries a very heavy tone, and is also well built.
I was worried that because of its size it would somehow lack the sturdiness department, BUT I play it through an orange cab and have yet to try even the 20Watt mode. I normally play the 1Watt or even 5Watt to practice. As I mentioned, I underestimated this and it is totally up there in terms of great tone, affordability and quality. I definitely recommend this amp especially coming from an awesome website like AmericanMusical.com

I was originally going to get the new Peavey Invective MH head but after the backorder date shifting back multiple times, I decided to get the 6505 MH and I'm super happy with the choice I made. The red channel sounds great for some lead or just some really chugging riffs and the green channel sounds great too. Even though it's not known for being a clean amp, I think the clean channel sounds pretty good, definitely better than some reviews will have you believe. The footswitch is the old plastic 6505 footswitch but it does what I need it to and that's all that matters to me. The crunch switch on the green channel also gives it a great classic rock or 80s hair metal sound. Overall I think this is a great amp and would definitely recommend it to anyone that wants that 6505 sound in a package that you can play in your home without blowing your ears out. It can definitely get loud enough to play some small gigs with it if you want to do that too. IF You're considering this amp head, I would say just go ahead and get it, you're gonna have fun if you do.

There are tons of reviews online for the 6505 mg, but until you play it yourself you cant understand how amazing this little guy is. Blew away my expectations. This is the best amp I've ever had in 30 years of being a hobbyist guitar player. If metal is your thing this is the amp. Unbelievable ammount gain in the lead channel. Cleans can be dialed in ok, but that's not why I bought this. I added an overdrive pedal to tighten things up and words cant describe how good it sounds.

First off, this amp sounds amazing while cranked, but at low volumes it got super fizzy. I purchased this strictly for low volume. Also it had a 60 cycle hum on the clean and crunch channel.

I’m an amp snob, so I was a bit hesitant buying something made in China. It does everything I need it too and way more.switchable between 1,5 and 20 watts, tons of tones available And it’s got killer onboard reverb! If you want a travel rig or just want something tube that you can play in your apartment (like me!) this is the amp for you.

Excellent little amp for home recording
By: CMG

Product Review
I’ve been using the standard full-sized 6505+ for years and have always dug it but my home recording setup makes mic-ing a cranked 120 watt amp quite impractical. Purchased this due to its mic-emulated outputs and am pleased with the performance so far. I’m able to get similar sounds recorded direct into Logic through my UA Apollo twin duo. The power attenuating switch is a nice feature. Only downsides for me is the footswitch is the old peavey style and is kind of cheap and a little disappointed to see its made in China instead of the USA like its full size cousin. Otherwise plenty of bang for the buck.

The Peavey 6505 is lightning in a bottle, the 6505 mh is that same bottle with an attenuator. I feel sorry for the mini heads that have to compete with this. Except maybe the Peavey Classic 20. Only question is hard rock(6505) or blues(Classic). Destructive metal tone and actually better cleans and reverb than expected.Good for beginning audiophiles to experience tube sound with simple control all the way to experienced guitarists who want to be able to get tube gain at 3 A.M., while be able smoke out the neighbors if necesarry. Thanks Mr. Peavey

This head has such a broad spectrum of sound it's a delight to go from clean with a great sounding reverb to nice blues crunch....to Classic Eddy full bore rock. The added options of 3 output watt settings, a DI XLR out and a headphone jack.Make this little gem go from home studio to gig ready shows in a very light and portable package. You really don't need anything else if you are going into the FOH system. At this price point it is a great way to achieve the classic 6505 sound .
