| Well, let me just say that this is a $300 Chinese guitar, not a $2,500 Les Paul. For the price, the quality is excellent. | | Reliability:
| I am not able to comment on its reliability over time, since I just purchased it yesterday afternoon. But I've had many guitars over the past few years, some American, some Japanese and Chinese - and I've never had any of them break, and I've never had any of them "develop" problems later (with the obvious exception of needing the occasional neck adjustment). | | Overall:
| I like it alot. I was asked to play in our church's worshiup band, which was quite a departure from the "smash your head until it leaks" music I played in my younger years. I sold my Les Paul on e-bay years ago, and I needed a new, simple, no-frills guitar. This Peavey is perfect for my application. | | Playability and Feel:
| Nicely balanced and easy to play. My only complaint is that the pickup selector moves back-to-front and not up-and-down like my old Gibson, but I can change that easily enough. Also, the tone control is where the bridge pickup volume knob should be, and I keep turning back the tone when I meant to shut off the volume. But again, that's easily fixable, and it's only a problem because I had grown accustomed to the Les Paul configuration. | | Tone:
| I've read complaints about the pickups in this guitar, but they sound great to me. I play it through a SansAmp GT-2 with maximum overdrive, so I guess anything would sound good played like that. | | Finish:
| I've seen other reviews of this guitar where the purchasers are complaining about the finish, etc. However, this is NOT a flame-top Les Paul and buyers should not expect that. The black finish seems tough, and there were no noticable manufacturing flaws. All in all, it looks pretty sharp. | | Action:
| Very fast neck, and very easy to play. I think there was some additional setting-up done at the store before I bought it. Absolutely no string buzz anywhere on the neck, and the action is nice and low. | | Skill Level:
