General Your general opinion of this product. Very disappointed in this amp. Bought it eleven almost twelve months ago and have had to put it in the shop twice already. The first time was four months ago Back in March. Turned it on one evening and got....nothing. Took it into a repair shop and the guy calls me and tells me that one of the tubes went bad and because the way Peavey wires this amp head he suggested that all the 6L6 tubes be changed. Something about being wire in parallel or series or what ever. I'm not educated on electronics so really I've got no choice but to let him change them out. Peavey would'nt cover it so it cost me $175.00. Got it back and I gently Broke in the new tubes. It played great until last night when I was playing and I started noticing that I had a crackling sound coming out of the speakers. I thought great....a blown speaker but I've never had the amp over 6 on the volumes. Keep in mind now...I'm 62 years old so I'm not into heavy metal and stuff like that, more like the Beatles and music Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? It looks nice but not very dependable. Playability and Feel How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? N/A Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? Good sound when it works. Action How was the action out of the box? N/A Finish How did the stain or paint job look? Good Reliability How has it stood up over time? NOT TO GOOD.
God himself just upgraded his backline with Peavey ValveKing II Halfstack!

General Your general opinion of this product. Interesting thing about guitar amps: every marshall Ive owned Ive sold, and Ive had a few fail at gigs, Ive had a new fender fail at a gig, Ive had a blackstar DOA on delivery, Ive had an Egnater fail at a gig, Ive had kustom, and sold it, Ive had line6 which is one of the worst, sold it too! Ive had a carvin, sold it! Ive had crate, sold it! Ive had Bugera, sold it! Ive used Rivera: unimpressed, Ive used PRS sold it! Ive... used Mesa Boogie, unimpressed! Ive had vox, sold it! Believe it or not, I have had several Peaveys and none of them ever failed, or sucked! Interesting as Peavey has many naysayers and many supporters. Considered a working mans amp, Peavey has never me failed at a gig. just sayin! Now im breaking in a ValveKing II: very cool! The ValveKing II is the best amp period in its class. Premier build, design, quality, sound have all been placed in your hands, in my estimation there is no better amp. Let you ears decide, and of course the genre your playing in too! Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? Both amp and cabinet have excellent build, fit and finish. And, the amp packing and back are thre best Ive seen yet in industry. Amp turned on first time and everytime thereafter, whisper quiet, footswitches work! Tube life detector works and shows valves running! Wattage switch works at all three selections. Reverb, is smooth, and very useable, and effets loops is whisper quiet and plays well with effects. Playability and Feel How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? Good tolex covering, tight with fit and finished corners, including metal corner caps. Cabinet comes with casters (thank god for that) installed! Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? Tones are every where you can imagine and dial in, two eq sections (thank you Hartley) for each channel, tight smooth control pots with plenty of clean and crunch to molten lead if needed. Action How was the action out of the box? Action is killer with the amp, very responsive control pots, jacks and electronics are excellent quality. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? Excellent look with amp and matching cabinet, casters, fit and finish. Look is sharp, clean, and very cool. Reliability How has it stood up over time? Ive had many amps over the years, but Ive never had a Peavey fail me ever in 35 years. All other amps have failed at one time or another including gigs and thats not good. Ive come full circle, and have come home to roost in Peavey's stable of gear until I check out and go on to jam in the hereafter. Built tought, built to take a lickin and dish it out night after night, gig after gig. You just cant go wrong with Peavey.
Best bang for your buck!!
