TONE IS GREAT. IT TOOK A FEW TO TWEEK IT TO WHERE IT MEETS MY NEEDS. JUST STRAIGHT IN GETS A GREAT TUBE DRIVEN GRIND ON THE DRIVE SIDE BUT YOU WILL NEED A TUBE SCREAMER FOR MORE MODERN METAL. LUCKILY I ORDERED ONE! THE CLEAN CHANNEL IS NICE AND CRISP.
Reliability:
JUST GOT IT BUT I KNOW FROM PAST EXPERIENCE THAT YOU CAN GO TO WAR WITH A PEAVEY AND IT WILL SURVIVE...

Solid great sounding affordableTube Amp, Peavey makes quality products!!
Quality:
This thing is a TANK! Solid!
Sound:
Clean channel does the job. It's not Fender clean but still does the job. Like I mentioned, I play my electric/acoustic guitars and it sounds great. The distortion does the job. I used to play with a distortion pedal before I got this amp. Now, I just switch to the distortion channel and it's all I need. After tweaking it, I got the crunchy tube distortion sound I was looking for. I also love the "Texture" knob in the back. You can adjust it to how loud you want your amp to sound.
Reliability:
I've owned it for a little less than a year. This is my third Peavey amp. The guys at Peavey know how to make quality U.S. products. Peavey amps can handle the wear & tear.
Overall:
I've been playing for over 20 years and have played many Tube amps in my lifetime. You can't beat the quality & price with the Valveking. I was very happy with this purchase. I will purchase another one in the near future for a back up. The clean sounds great with my Electric/Acoustic guitars. The distortion is crunchy, perfect for rock! This head is extremely loud and can handle any small to medium size gig. I never mic my set up.

Takes some time to tweak the sound, but once its dialed in, it's top notch

No problems in the three weeks I've had it. I'm counting on traditional Peavey reliability

Great Head for the Cash
Quality:
It appears to be very well made for the price. Sound is terrific (minus the feedback at higher volumes with high gain). Love this thing. Haven't really had the chance to test over an extended period of time.
Sound:
The tone is pretty good. The only thing I would recommend is picking up a noise gate if you plan on playing high gain stuff. This tends to feedback pretty easily at higher volumes. I have yet to have to crank this thing up past a third and I practice with a punk band.
Reliability:
I've only had mine for a month or so, but it has so far withstood daily playing.
Overall:
This head has some serious power for the cost. If you are looking for a good entry level all-tube head, this thing is sweet.
Playability and Feel:
NA
Tone:
It's not a mesa or marshall, but it has super tone for the price. I recommend a good cab to match with this. I've played out of a bugera cab, a cheap marshall cab, and a marshall 1960a and have found the tone varies greatly. I'd recommend making a 1960a cab your next purchase.
Finish:
The tolex is very utilitarian, but sturdy. The overall construction seems very rugged. If you like plain black, you'll love the look.
Action:
Easy to get set up. "Action" doesn't really apply. I recommend reading the manual a couple times. It's short and gives you a good idea about some of the extra boosts and controls.

Semi-Pro

I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO SOLID STATE!
Quality:
This amp is made incredibly well. Very heavy duty construction, high quality switches & jacks. I would rate this up there with any other tube amp. The fact that it's 100 watts is a big plus for me, I like it loud!
Reliability:
I have owned it for a little over a year and had no issues with reliability. I did break one of the jacks by stepping on a cord and pulling down on it, but other than that it's great!
Overall:
Overall a solid 9 out of 10. Very loud, will stand up to brutal punishment. I have gigged with it and it has never let me down.
Playability and Feel:
I would prefer the knob labels to be above the knobs, so I can read them easier on my halfstack.
Tone:
Very nice tone. Can get overdriven pretty hard, just starts sounding better as you go.
Finish:
Tolex looks nice, metal front is kinda plain, does it's job.
