Its very fuzzy but also very effective. Sounds best into a clean amp with a little bit of overdrive going into it. This eleminates a little fuzz and adds a little mid-range to soften the mix. Amazing tones made easy.

I've had so many dirt pedals over the years, some of them pretty expensive, some boutique, some good ol' Boss pedals.
But I've never owned a Rat and now that I have one, really wish I had bought one years ago. It's so good. I love how it's almost like fuzz but so controllable. It's just a great sounding pedal and fits a lot of different styles of music. I'm surprised that sometimes I can jam a song with it that I would usually consider more laid back, but with the Rat it just rocks, but doesn't lose the character of the song if that makes sense. I seriously love this pedal!

I use this overdrive for a lot of leads, great fuzz tones for rythym and leads! Fattens up your tone and cuts through the mix still with great sustain. I’ve used this pedal for leads at many gigs and always got great sustain and clarity with low feedback. Highly recommend for all lead guitarists.

Sounds great, easily adjustable and a great price. Really cuts through the mix in a band setting. If I had any gripes, it would be that it’s hard for me to attach it to my pedal board because of the feet.
But I love it.

I had heard about this pedal and man did it exceed my expectations! I use it through a 65 reissue twin reverb and you can get crushing metal and thrash sounds to David gilmour buttery leads to Black Sabbath fuzz sounds. Well worth every penny

A must have for your pedalboard. This pedal ROCKS...I’m still playing around with it by running through the FX Loop on My Marshall DSL20, as well as straight into the front of the a,p. I haven’t decided which one I prefer yet. Either way it’s gonna give you the sound you’re looking for....Thanks AMS....!

Always loved the Rat and when I old one died I had to replace it. It's my base distortion tone. Can give you anything from creamy overdrive to early Metallic thrash. No frills. Highly recommended.

This is a ProCo Rat 2. You know what this is, and if you don't you probably should buy it. This is an incredible distortion pedal that every guitarist should own. Besides the pedal being amazing, it shipped extremely fast from American Musical. Their customer service is the best.

I have an original Rat. I have had it for over 20 years. It has been dropped on concrete floors, bounced down stairs, gotten wet, been kicked, stomped on and run over by a car. It still works fine! I have used it to play heavy metal, weddings, and everything in between. If you play with the controls a little a Rat will give you any kind of distortion or overdrive you want. It is bulletproof and can do almost anything...just like Superman.
It is the only dist./od pedal I use.

This thing is Superman. If you dropped it you could break your foot. Pro Co always makes good pedals and this one isnt different
FEATURES:
True bypass is the best doesnt change your tone when turned off. The casing is cool too.
EASE OF USE:
Easy to use took me 5 minutes to find a few sounds i liked.
VALUE:
Worth the price. I would sell a kidney to get this pedal again if i lost it.
SOUND:
i love the sound. its like tube distortion. i like how the signal breaks apart when i turn the distortion up all the way

ProCo Rat is top notch from the Inside out - 100% Professional Grade Parts and Assembly - I expect this to last a Long Time - I wish the Power Supply was standard - The best feature is the tone - very distinctive

The sound is great - I took the stock chip out and installed a metal can LM308 like in the vintage rats - The tone is nw smooth, full and more tube like - I set the gain at 40% and the filter is set for some bite with moderate volume - I run this through a Marshall JCM900 with 6L6 Power tubes - I use a custom Mahogany Hamer with Dimarzio Fred Pups - Super Smooth, Dynamic British tone - It sounds great alone and mixes well

This pedal is really awesome. It is a great smooth distortion great for mid-rangey heavy distortion like the Smashing Pumpkins, light blues crunch, or even full out fuzz. It really durable and a great pedal!
