Quality
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
American made PRS. Top quality. Beautiful fit and finish.
Reliability
How has it stood up over time?
I've only had it a couple of months and I am still learning how best to tap its capabilities. The pickup combinations and a usable volume and tone control make the possibilities endless.
General
Your general opinion of this product.
I splurged for my birthday and bought this guitar I had been researching and admiring for some time. Bought it on scratch and dent. A VERY SMALL nick on the headstock that I would have to point out to you was certainly woth the $290 savings.
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
This is the most amazing neck I have ever seen on a guitar and I have owned many. Plays like butter. When used with a strap, the back carving makes the guitar seem like a part of you.
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
These pick-ups are hot and noiseless. I like playing with the guitar volume on 7 so I can add a bit when needed. You can get any kind of tone you can imagine from smooth jazz to "chicken pickin'"
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
The guitar is so beautiful sometimes I just sit there and look at it for a few minutes before picking it up. On-line pictures can't do the v12 finish justice.
Action
How was the action out of the box?
I had a bit of set-up to do to get the guitar like I wanted it. I had to loosen the claw screws to center the tremolo float, tweak the intonation (on the B string only), minor truss rod and bridge height adjustment. All of this took less than an hour. The guitar was built in June of 2011 and I didn't buy it until December 2012 so that might explain some of it. Now that it is set up, it is smooth and rock solid. Stays in tune even with a lot of tremolo use and plays like butter. I'll pick it up and start playing and the next thing you know 3 hours have gone by. This guitar inspires you to try new things.
