Quality
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
Build quality? EXCELLENT!! Bear in mind, ANY moving parts will eventually breakdown, but I think the power supply has more of a chance of breaking compared to the switches, jacks, etc on this unit.
Reliability
How has it stood up over time?
I'll give reliability an average score of 3 stars since I recently got the unit, time will tell, but all indications appear that the JDX will last a long time...UNDER NORMAL OPERATING CONDITIONS.
General
Your general opinion of this product.
This is my second Radial product, I also own a Radial ToneBone, and the overall quality of the product is excellent. Looks like this DI will be very gig worthy and will last a long time, IF, the power supply does not burn up, but that's not the manufacturer's fault though.
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
n/a...it's a direct box...so playability and feel does not apply.
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
Tone...tone...tone...it's all in the hands! So, heads up, whatever you record or play through the JDX WILL show through the PA or recording! Great for experienced players, might be humbling for some folks. I'll be on the humbling folks category..
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
Paint job looks great. it seems to be consistent of Radial products to have excellent paint job on their boxes. My ToneBone looks great and so does my JDI.
Action
How was the action out of the box?
n/a, it's a direct box, so action?
