Quality
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
This is a tank. Big. Like a vintage piece of gear. Being a Rivera, it probably has a bit of high quality built in, and it sounds it.
Reliability
How has it stood up over time?
Iv'e had it for two weeks. I can only hope. But Made In USA, with quality parts as advertised, I'm optimistic.
General
Your general opinion of this product.
When I first palyed with it, I was not overly impressed, but still, I liked what I was hearing-Just wasn't sure if it was going to do what i wanted it to do, that is allow me to use my JCM 2000 DSL Marshall in rehearsal, gigs and in my studio without blowing out the windows.
But I have played aroung with it, had to adjust the Marshall's pre, master and tone stack, as well as the presence, but, I have done it! I found what I was looking for. It has enabled me to use the 1/2 stack in a very controlable way. I liked, now love this unit.
*Note: the -3db is really like a -8 db. The minus 8db is really like a -12db. Thats was a concern because when you turn on to -3db, it should be subtle, but its very noticablely attenuated. Thats why you need to really play with the sound of your amp-it might take a while, but if you buy this thing (I highly recommend), Have patience. You can and will, after tinkering with your amp, get the sound you've been hearing in your head.
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
N/A
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
Again, as stated above, this unit delivers real tone and the pick attack is not compromised- But, you are the one who has to "hone in" on the amp settings to create your tone. I use the -3db and -8db only. There are the higher attenuated settings that can be useful, but you may, then have to tinker with the amp settings once again. To me, the -3db and -8db do everything I need it to do. I have not tried the line out or recorded with the unit. But thats not why i bought it. (FYI: The best recorded guitar I have ever recorded-and one of the best i have ever heard, is when I recorded with my Marshall JVM 215C. Just blew my mind. I could not believe I was getting this tone form a home studio & one SM57 mic. Un-friggin' real!!!).

How did the stain or paint job look?
Looks nice. Big. Bigger than i thought as stated above. But the purple is cool. Love the color.

Weel, that's what I bought it for and that's what it delivers, at a reasonable volume.

Absolutely.
Reliability
How has it stood up over time?
I have only had it a few days but it looks & feels like Rivera touted, built to DOD standards, so I am not real worried about it breaking.

I have this fantastic amp, 1 of 500 AC30H2Ls produced... but the bloody thing is so loud and as with most all hand wired monsters there is no master volume. That it is not really very good for home recording and not even for practice because to get the tone you must crank it up. The attenuator lets me do this without breaking things like eardrums and rattling stuff off the shelves. The thing is built very well and has some nice features for recording and/or live use.

I've only owned mine for a few months, but I would be hard pressed to believe it would not last a very long time due to the great construction and quality components.
Reliability
How has it stood up over time?
The thing is built like a tank. From the switching, components and housing, it could take a beating, and easily withstands the rigors of the road.

For a little more than a THD (about $130 more), the Rock Crusher is a far superior Attenuator than my THD. It's as simple as that. The build quality and tone are what make this worth the price tag, which is half as much as a Faustine, the reputed best there is.
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
The unit is large, and weighs about 5 lbs or so. I wish it had some type of cover or case to make it easier to transport. I use it on about 40-50 gigs a year, so it see constant action.
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
I can use my Bogner Shiva anywhere now because of the Rock Crusher. My sound man loves the line out, my band mates love the ability to get great tone at modest volume levels.
Finish

Comes in one color only, but the blue looks good and is very durable.

the unit is bigger then expected, about 12X16 " and occupys alot of space sitting atop any amp.
Tone

I can get pretty much the same tone in bypass or attenuate. Again eq switches are nice.
