Stratogism from Tx
Sound:
Like I said, clean with lush chorus enough to make you melt. I heard many people diss the distortion; I agree if you are trying to get a true distortion sound, but for a nice gritty bluesy tone, it's right on time. the reverb is ok, not liquid like fender, but it will do.
Reliability:
very well constructed and heavy as h#ll, which is why it comes with wheels.
Overall:
Man what can I say that most raters have not already said; this amp is absolutely premo! The cleanest sound in town, this amp takes to pedals like no other. For you metal freaks, move on this amp is not for you. Your axe shines through with this transparent circuitry.

Quality Clean Amp
Quality:
Its a JC120. I expect it to outlast me.
Sound:
Truly great clean sounds. I will still keep my fender tube amps, but this one sits right next to them and fills its own niche. The distortion is useable for adding a little grit, but if you want flexibility or dynamic breakup, you will have to use a pedal. Some people say these are not as good as the older JC-120's. My guess is that the tone will soften with age on speakers, caps, etc. I think it sounds great. The Chorus is a great useable classic sound, the "tremolo," not so much.
Reliability:
Too new to tell, but these have a reputation for reliability. They stand up to constant road use and are on the backline of many touring acts.
Overall:
Great amp. I bought this as a factory re-seal for a fantastic discount. The best money I have spent on an amp.

Tone with reliability!
Quality:
exceeds my expectations, its stood the test of time and abuse.
Sound:
Greatest clean sound outside of tube amp world! I'm not kidding either and I've been playing for about 25+yrs. I have seen equiptments come and go and advertise as tone from the gods! and JC-120 has withstood the test of 35yrs... Pedal friendly, takes overdrive/distortionpedals well, its meant for it besides itself, which also sounds great by itself. The distortion on the amp is great for light blues riff, like early Albert King stuff. I think thats what Roland was shooting for! it could also be a blues amp as well when that distortion was added but no more than that.
Reliability:
I'm writting this because of its reliability! To make a long story short,I'm a guitar player for a church and we found this amp underneath the stage! it look pretty banged up and used up well. Whoever own this amp prior to us finding it, really abused it! The first channel had broken jacks and knobs. the 2nd channel looked okay,we fired it up and it works well, some of the input jacks looked bitten down but it still works. Reverb,Chorus,Tremolo, works well! Then we put a Boss OD-3 pedal in the front and to our surprise! it was an awesome loud tone! wow.... By the way the serial number on this amp we found underneath the stage dated back from 1989! go figure....
Overall:
If youre like me who play's a genre of style from Jazz,Blues,Funk,R&B,Hard Rock,Fusion,Twang Rock this amp does it well and takes those kinds of pedals well. If youre into death metal move on! To my knowledge this amp has become an industry standard for the last 15yrs just like the SM57 mic. I highly recommend this to anyone that gigs alot on weekends that has alot of pedals. And yes! its heavy but it has caster wheels, very reliable and no tubes to worry about. Oh! for cryin out loud alot of modeling amp manufacturers are tryin to model their clean sound after the JC-120 or 65 twin go figure, get the real one and be done with it! there's a reason why it has not change since its debut appearance in 1975

The closest to a 65 twin reverb without tubes! and I use to have a 65 twin and to this day, I regret selling that!

Great All-Around Amp
Sound:
Tone-wise, it gives a very natural clean sound. It is THE definitive clean sound in many styles of music. You've heard this amp on countless recordings, even if you didn't know it!
Reliability:
Build quality of mine was excellent. It would heat up pretty good and smell a bit when really cooking. Still, it was road-tough. I don't know about the current version, though.
Overall:
I had one of these amps in the 80s. Loved it for its power and clarity. It makes any pedal sound incredible. The distortion onboard should probably be left out, as it's just not useful for any genre. The chorus and reverb are the best you'll find on any amp.
Playability and Feel:
HEAVY. Mine came with casters - and for a good reason!
Finish:
No paint (lol), but the covering was basic tolex with a silverface-like grill.

All time favorite of mine
Sound:
this is for clean freaks. the distortion is almost non existant so a good overdrive pedal is needed. But I like clean because I play 12 string acoustic and electric guitars.
Reliability:
this amp is bulletproof. Not literally. but it is road worthy.

good luck getting one with working reverb
Quality:
If the amp worked properly it would be great.
Reliability:
I sent the first amp back because the reverb did not work. When I got another one a month later, the reverb still did not work. I tried the amp out at a rehearsal and it stopped working altogether. It has since come back to life, but I will still have to take it to a roland authorized repair place(of course, there isn't one in New Orleans) to get the reverb fixed and make sure it will be reliable for gigs since that is reason I bought this amp in the first place.
Overall:
It sounds great, but I really chose this amp because of its reputation for being durable and reliable.
Playability and Feel:
nice tone

If you prefer a clean tone, then you won't be disappointed... providing that the amp works.
