I love this lil synth. Small but packs a punch and the features and customization are endless. You'll have a blast with the presets and can do so much with them alone, but then you can really nerd out and menue dive to really customize and create your own unique sounds. The vast collection drum (pretty much the entire Roland/Boss lineup) presents alone makes this a worth while investment. A personal groovebox for many, so much more to many others. If you want a portable synth that does more than the average, at this price point, then I must fully recommend the JD-Xi.

Perfect for beginners or seasoned electronic musicians. Compact but packs a punch and the mini-keys don't bother me at all. Loads of features + drum machine built in! Vocoder is an amazing bonus. Get this if you are considering it.

I bought this synth to have something to play outside of my studio. I was very surprised to see how perfect this synth is for what I needed it for. There are many presets and each preset has its own demo song. You can loop 4 different effects (including drums) with the sequencer creating full songs. You also have a variety of effects and solo/mute functions for each track. I heard the vocoder was sub par in other reviews, but it sounds great! There is plenty to play with, and it is a perfect starter synth or portable studio. Very happy with the JD XI!

This is a polyphonic analogue/digital crossover synth. The interface is incredibly modern, sparse and easy to use, and I am still being baffled by its features. The preset sounds are amazing, everything I would expect and hope for being a synthwave musician. The pattern sequencer is incredibly intuitive, including real time and step recording. I’m also quite impressed with the drum tones, it is Roland as as such has many of the classic Roland drum sounds you’ve probably heard in a 80s music. I’m very impressed with the 808 drum tones in particular, all of the sounds are adjustable as well. The tonal control is pretty good for what you get, and laid out in a very logical way that makes it easy to use and easy to memorize especially in a live scenario. Speaking of live scenario the hardware is incredible, it is very slick and the knobs feel amazing. It feels very durable yet light weight which is always a plus. While I am very impressed with how on the mark the tonal options are the analogue tones are significantly fewer than the digital, this is slightly disappointing but very fixable with patches and midi which is provided. All in all this is an incredibly diverse, respectable, and professional instrument that I will be using throughout my musical journey.

I have been a Roland fan since I got a first issue Juno 106. Roland has been my go to company for all of my musical needs. So when I saw the JDXI locally I said to self, “Self we must have this!” So I bought it. When it arrived I was really excited!
Then after the unboxing I began to regret my decision over the Novation MiniNova. Those keys are really small, yes I did knew that. It’s so small and light weight. I knew that as well. The vocoder was horrible. But the color scheme was dope ??
Once I began to delve into the JDXI it became the Holy Grail of my synths. First it was so easy to get it to work within Ableton and Logic. JDXi as my audio input and Digital 1,2, drums and analog inputs followed suit. The sounds are total dope and the vocoder became a goto in my creation of “dark” soundscapes. The drum section is seriously second to none.
My 106 was a beast. The JDXi I can put in a backpack and go anywhere with ease.
So what was an initial disappointment became and is still an OMG seriously I own this? WOW. Love this synth. Best synth I own with total DAW incorporation and sound generation.

This thing is amazing. Hasn't taken long to pick up on the functionality. The manual is good and there's a lot of detail but once you understand the basics and how to navigate across the board, you'll be making music in no time. I did have a friend play it and he agreed that the filter on there rules. True Roland tech. Love the way you can change the tone through the mic or connected instrument with the keys and the built in sequencer was my main reason to consider this unit. Glad I did!

I was stuck between buying this and a GAIA SH01 and after demoing both I decided the JDXi was the one for me. I haven't even fully explored everything this bad boy has to offer and I'm BLOWN AWAY. You will certainly get the most bang for your buck with this and for the price, it can't be beaten in my opinion.

This synth is full of goodness but it is a bit daunting for me being mainly a guitarist and then jumping to synth with such a jam-packed instrument.
I'm still learning to use it but love it and all its features, you can even connect a guitar to it's input to get some out there sounds! The drum kits and effects are also great.
I highly recommend it. The only feature I wish it had (being a compact keyboard) is the ability to add a rechargeable battery pack to it and take it to the couch with your headphones.

This little guy definitely has some power under its hood.
Very lush pads and rich sounds, this synth is definitely a beginner's dream.
Add to that it's versatility (two digital synths, drums, a built-in vocoder and an analog synth) and you've got yourself one handy little machine.

This keyboard is amazing for the price it is. Perfect size to fit into your studio or bedroom with ease. Such an easy keyboard to integrate into your workflow. I'd been looking for a synthesizer for a long time and I'm glad that I chose this one out of all the other ones I researched. Plays directly into my DAW with Audio tracks, but also can play and sequence by itself without assistance of computer. Can honestly say I do not regret this purchase at all. Strongly recommend to anybody looking for a first time beginning synth.

Honestly I've always wanted to add a synth to my setup and over the years I've had a few and eventually sold them. But this little puppy takes the cake. It's very hands on and once I got the copy and paste down, there was no looking back !! Also is comes with the " backstage pass " support from Roland. The midi and audio via usb is amazing , I play right into logic pro x and Protools with no problem .. Oh yeah and don't be fooled by the size .. It's a monster on the inside !
