Sound
How is its Tone?
The tone sounds great, only thing is changing the pitch results in a little weirdness.

It is very, very durable as I've said before. The quality is nothing less than what you'd expect from Roland. Fairly easy to use, great sampling quality. And it comes with a factory reset disc if you erase everything off it but want to put it back on to play around with. It's really fun and extremely versatile and useful.

The sound of this thing is really good, depending on how high of quality your samples you put on this thing are. Recording new samples through the mic is pretty decent too. It's also got built in effects and an effect level knob so you can get the frequency pass effect DJ's use among other's.

I would say this is a great value. I use this for running sample tracks and bass booms for my band and this does 100% of what I want it to. It's a little tricky getting your own samples on it as you have to delete almost all of the factory stuff if you're going to use a decent amount of your own samples. It also has a stereo/dual mono trigger input so you can make your own kick drum sound for the trigger and its compatible with the tom and snare triggers too. Overall, I would say this is an extremely valuable piece of equipment if you have need for these things.

Great Sampling Solution (kind of)
Teejay from OKC, OK
Quality
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
yeah, its quality. A little overpriced, and maybe behind the times. Good luck finding a compatible COMPACT FLASH card (hardly ayone makes or uses these any more and no one makes them under 512MB, which is the max it supports...exxx will be your friend!

The sound is pretty good from this little guy. All depends on what clarity you sample at; but the included drums and loops are pretty clear for use as drum additions. The MIDI velocity kind of sucks, you SHOULD be able to get velocity from 0-127, but its more like 10, 75 or 127...

Eh...yes and no. I think Roland could have kept up with the times a little bit with regards to the flash media, or maybe added a USB interface, GUI interface or at least come down on the price a little. And Holy crap the internal memory doesn't hold but like 35 seconds of samples unless you delete all of the factory stuff! All-in-all I'm not dissappointed though
