Product Review This Mega synthesizer with a mega price tag that is all that and more. Hands down one of the more interesting synthesizers to appear in the last few years it has tons of different features, and the sky's the limit on what kind of sounds you can create weather based off of sound you heard horse sounds are birthed from your own mind listen to size you can get you there. The only things that aren't so wonderful about this synthesizer 1 it's lack of 12 voices, 2 it only has one low frequency oscillator, 3 you can't split the band with with the built-in voice recorder, 4 there's no velocity sensitivity which has more of these items to the least that should have been part of the synthesizer. I can't figure out why these aren't part of the original synthesizer that part really doesn't make sense. But these are not deal breakers especially with the Advent of MIDI musical instrument digital interface.

Product Review Some people think this sounds just like their recorded Jupiter or Juno, others feel it misses some analog feel. I think it sounds rich and detailed. The system 8 engine alone is worth the purchase. I love it way more than the deep mind 12 I had and returned. The controls are immediate and the sound is diverse with no digital aliasing. Sure it doesn’t sound like Prophet 6 for $2,700, which I had at one point and do miss. But that’s a different price point and there’s a lot the S8 can do that the prophet couldn’t (like fm, versatile filter models, 8 voices) .. The main areas that could have been better is less plastic construction, after touch, and more modulation. But what it does it does great and it’s just really fun to make sounds on.

Product Review This is without a doubt my desert island synth, the one I would run into a burning building for! The System-8 is a beautiful and high quality synth with different engines that you can use to play not just the very awesome System-8 engine, but also classic reproductions of the Jupiter-8, Juno-106 and JX-3P. Those synths by themselves would run you many several thousand dollars, and I wasn't sold on them until I heard them in person next to their counterparts. These extra synth engines are called Plug-Outs, and they can be added and removed at will via a computer over USB. This makes the System-8 the one synth I'm playing around with literally on a daily basis, it's simply capable of producing such a large assortment of sounds from pads to bass to leads to plucks. Roland has recently issued a firmware update which included even MORE filters to be used expanding an already impressive system. If you're on the fence, don't be. Pick this up today, it will pay for itself in no time.

Product Review Best in class! The system-8 has great synth action and Fat analog sound. Warm pads. Evolving sounds. A step sequencer. Key hold for editing without a sustain peddle. Best of all too you can use every knob and slider to send midi CC's to your DAW and to your Plugins. Another great thing for Omnisphere owners, hardware integration! It's one of spectrasonics top choices for hardware control of Omnisphere. Love it! Love AMS! They had it to me in 2 days. Thank you guys at AMS!

Product Review Years ago, I sold my Roland JP8000 and I have regretted it for a long time. Then along came the Roland System 8, which not only brings the best of what the JP had to offer back into my life, but also the Jupiter 8 and the Juno 106. As much as there is a "Retro" element to this synth, it is clearly a beast of modern methodology. The workflow is far more intuitive and the overall sound is akin to what you remember of your old favorite movies in SD and seeing them for the first time in HD. The keyboard feels fantastic for plastic keys and the unit is light enough to gig with, though mine stays in the studio for Film Composing. I won't make the same mistake twice. The System 8 will be in my arsenal for a long time to come.

Product Review This is the best modeled analog synthesizer I've yet owned, and having played the Jupiter 8, Juno 60 and 6 you be hard pressed to tell the difference, and unlike the Jupiter 8 you never have to press the dreaded auto tune.. Bravo

Product Review This is one of the few products I've purchased that inspired me right out of the box. I considered going full analog but when I read the features that came with this synth, I realized that I would have the most important features contained in one synth. And since the old Roland sounds were most desired, I took a chance with this. When it arrived, it became immediately apparent that its intuitive features were one of its strengths. Within a half hour, I was recreating the intro for the TV show, Stranger Things. It can nail all of those analog tones. My kids recognized the music and raced into my office asking me how I recreated that intro. I pointed to my glowing Roland System 8 and told them that this was the kind of tool that was meant for people who admire analog and the entirety of that aesthetic. In addition, it's refreshing to just play with this thing and get creative. I was tired of fooling with sample-based plugins all day, staring at a monitor.

Product Review the synth is awesome - layout is very user friendly, trigger-in works great with my other AIRA gear; easy to edit and comes with some nice presets; oscillators quite stable - the eight-voice is a nice upgrade from the System 1; HOWEVER: despite what Roland says, it is only shipping with the JP-8 and the 106 won't be available until 2017 - also, it does NOT support the System 1 plug-ins yet so you can't use the SH101 or any of the others with the 8 - according to Roland these should be available soon for the System 8 but it was slightly disappointing to not get access right out of the box. The JP-8 is great though - I don't have my original anymore but I can't really tell the difference sound-wise
