Action How was the action out of the box? Horrible. It was out of tune, and impossible to tune. A friend and I spent hours trying to fix it and make it tuneable, but after two sets of strings, we gave up. Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? The finish looked great, and it was all well painted. However, the fretboard wwas cracked all the way up to the fourth fret, and it was impossible to tune. Reliability How has it stood up over time? The strings are impossible to tune, and the guitar would not hold the tune. I tried changing strings, but in an attempt to tune it, the strings would end up breaking. The body is wood, but the scratch guard is plastic. Also, the fret board looks like it is unfinished. It felt rough and was very light in color. Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? The pickups didn't work very well on the strings I could play, and changing the pick-up switch did nothing to change any sounds. He was excited to see wht he got and everyday he plays with it. He is making his own music and learning the notes on his own. My son seems to love it, but every time he tries to tune it the small string breaks. It only came with one extra set, no manual to refer to on sizes or how to change strings.
