I have a series of mic - many SM58's and 57's and from a recording and sound magnification these mics are every bit as good. I haven't had them long enough to talk about durability but I have other Samson mics that are holding up great. I use them for both voice and instrument applications and they work fine in both settings.

Lemme start by saying that I originally bought these because I wanted the case for some sm58s.... also we do karaoke so back up mics are always needed. The mics aren't great by any means. They are tinny, airy, feel cheap, and the coil on them makes the most sheepish singer sound like they are yelling.... HOWEVER if you are in a jam and need some extra mics here's 3 of them for $50 and a nice hard case to go with. STILL 4 STARS because its priced beyond generously. In the microphone world you get what you pay for. Period. I would not suggest these for anyone's main vocal mics unless you are doing karaoke or something along those lines.

The Samson R21 microphone is a great alternative to the Shure SM58. I typically use mine for podcasting. The tone comes in pretty clear and since it's unidirectional, it doesn't pick up background noise, with is perfect for my application. Since these only come in a three-pack, I sent one of the extras over to my brother, who tested it out using clean and gutteral metal vocals with very surprising results. Definitely a great bang for the buck. However, there are a couple of complaints, but it's more nitpicking than anything. The adapter that is screwed into the mic clip is too small for typical mic stands, doesn't come with any cables, and you can only get these in a three-pack at this point in time on this site. Those aside, I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for that SM58 sound for a cheaper price.

Just got these microphones a week ago. Used it twice so far and have been sounding great! Have used other Samson microphones before with good results. These have good gain before feedback and a natural sound with a tight pick up pattern. Good for lead or back ground vocals. These are lighter than some of the other microphones I've used. The 3 unit carry case makes it a good grab and go for small setups.

This was a good deal.. buy one get the next 1/2 I'm an entertainer here in Detroit and you can go through Mikes all the time. These Samson Mikes are a good quality mike. I have already told many of my friends here in Detroit about American Music Supply. You people offer much better deals than Guitar Center or Sweet water. I bought these two have as a set of budget house microphones for my PA system. They arrived on time in great shape. Upon plugging them in they were more than what I had anticipated. Having a good sound, and a decent weight and construction. I would highly recommend these for anyone looking for a decent microphone on a budget.Added plues is hard shell case and clips that also fit my sm58s.

Got these mics to replace some 20+ year old ones in our practice space. First practice with them was a drastic change in the background vocals overall sound and volume. I use a Shure 58 currently but the other guys sound is pretty equal to mine. I love them. Very happy with my purchase

Lightweight, low noise. Excellent dynamics. I uae one souly for vocals and a couple on instruments. They've recorded well as well as amplify well. I highly recommend these awesome mics. Low noise, great signal. You will love them!

I use these for practice with a full band as well as acoustic shows. I have had very little feedback issues, and when they do occur it's usually user error. IMO I would've paid the 50 just for this case, it's great and convenient. I don't use the Mic holders that were included. As far as sound, I think they sound as good as the equipment you're running them on, if you have a crap PA then don't expect amazing sound. I Would buy these again if lost, stolen or broken!

Hohner Blues harp is quite realistically reproduced with a pair of the R21 using just a slight amount of compression on the mixer. Sensitive enough to pick up breaths, so looking into mixing a dirty microphone signal with the clean signal to reduce some of the breath capture. More sensitive with accurate clarity than I was expecting for this price.

Specs compare favorably to shure sm58. I have 2 sets specifically for free gigs where I need lots of mics for non-pro vocals. They sound great and are fairly rugged. Does what I want at a great price point! Would suggest for karaoke for sure.

Mics are well made and very dependable. These mics may be cheap in price but they are not cheap.
These mics offer a crystal clear signal with very little coloration.
Simple to use. Plug them in and sing (or whatever)

Well made. Doesn't feel as heavy as higher priced mics, whatever that means. Great price, I won't feel so bad if I lose one.
Would like an on/off switch, but that's what a tech is for right? Comes in a set of three in case you break one and lose another.
No on/off switch, so it really simplifies operation.
It's great for live sounds. Good for both vocals and mic-ing amps.

These look like 58s but they're not as sturdy. But who cares? You're only paying $50 for 3!!! Can't even get 1 58 for that much. They're also not flimsy Radio Shack mics either--much better than something like that. They'll last a long time if you take care of them and put them back in the case after a gig.
Case is a nice feature, because you need it! Mics don't have on/off switch, so look elsewhere if that's important to you. The clips are bendable plastic, so you have to work the mic in/out--no problem for band members playing an instrument. Buy a spring-loaded clip for lead singers who like to take move the mic from stand to hand.
Plug and play...no problems.
Sound is great. No issues here...you won't be disappointed.

OVERALL:
If you run sound. This is the mic you can afford to scarfice and still have excellent voice, instrument reproduction. I have not found a better sounding mic for the value. All Samson mics have good sound, like the headphones they make too.
QUALITY:
These mics are well made. I have used them night after night with no problems. Except for once when a hardcore band I was running sound for, threw the mic on the floor super hard. No problem. I dont mind at this price. Easily replaced. Not as heavy duty as the Shure mics, but well worth the investment.
FEATURES:
On and off switch. Standard like any other mic.
EASE OF USE:
No hard thing to set up.
VALUE:
Excellent value. YOu will not find a better preforming mic for the price. Will blow away other mics that sell for a higher price.
SOUND:
THe standard comparison is the Shure 57 and 58. Let me tell, you that it has a hella lot more of a

I was singing background(1 of 3) for a recording with an R&B Group. One of the background singers brought in Shure SM58's which we initially started using. We ended up not sounding so nice on the 58's and tried this group of mics. Not only did we not have to use our levels so high, but we had much more clarity and intonation smoked the 58's. I swear by the Beta 58 since it's what I use for live solo work, but this group of 3 mics is pretty for the price. I'm glad I bought it. Try the Audix OM5 as well!

I bought these mics to use for rehersal, I have SM58s and PG58s for our live shows. Within a week I replaced all the PG58's with R21s. They sound exactly the same as the SM58s, they just dont seem as durable....but remember that you get 3 R21s for half the price of 1 SM58. and how often do you drop, kick, trample or hammer a nail in with your mic???? is durability worth 6x the price?
