Speaker binding posts are NOT what I expected

Product Rating Product Review I've had it a few days. Performance is fine, about what I expected. I'm not disappointed in that. What I -AM- disappointed in is the speaker binding posts. Per the manual, advertisements, etc, they are specifically listed as 5-way binding posts. THEY ARE -NOT-! They are one-way binding posts, and very insecure at that. I had to strip the wires about an inch, tin them with solder and form then into a hook. Even then, the slightest jiggling of the wires causes the binding posts to loosen up. I only made it work by putting a lockwasher on each side of the wire and tightening it as much as I dared. I was prepared to use bannana plugs, now I'll have to rig up an adapter of some kind. Too bad, it's a nice amp.

I haven't had it long, but the build quality is great! Strong steel chassis, gold plated RCAs, and metal 1/4" inputs. Overall, I'd say it's built better than my Crown XLS 402 The level meters are a great reference, and the detents on the sensitivity knobs are very close and tight, making it easy to set the same level for both channels. Note that the binding posts do not accept banana plugs. This amplifier was very easy to use. The connections are straight-forward, and the manual suggested different configurations you could use. The best feature is the sound- very open and effortless sounding. With the sensitivity at the max and nothing connected to the inputs I had to listen REALLY hard to hear any noise from the speakers. Quieter than my Crown amps.
