This pickup set is really what it's bragged up to be. I first experienced this combo years ago on a guitar I bought as a kid, and loved them ever since. The JB has such a hot driven punch to it, but can also be tamed to a nice clear tone by rolling the volume. A very versatile bridge pickup. And the jazz just has such a great tone with plenty of warmth to it. Overall an awesome pair of pickups

Very good for any genre

I have this set in at least 6 of my guitars. I play most genres of music and these pickups sound great from reggae to heavy metal. Some might argue about specific genres but i love these because they cover me well in any type of music i play. That's probably why this combination has been so successful for so long. The ability to switch settings thanks to a 4 wire design and the clarity and true tested durability make these a no brainer for me. And yes as an 80's child ive been using jb's and sh 1s & 2s for decades.

I recently bought a 2020 Epiphone Les Paul Custom as a backup guitar. I love the look of it, but the Probucker pickups didn't quite do it for me.
I wanted better pickups without spending a ton of money, enter these Seymour Duncans.
These are really great pickups, they handle clean tones beautifully, full and bright with no mud, and the JB sounds amazing when you throw some dirt in. So far, I cannot find a genre that they won't work in.
If you've got a budget guitar that could use an upgrade, I would highly recommend these!

Sound great! Replaced my old pickups with them, and it was like buying an expensive guitar instead. Definitely recommend these especially if you can't afford high end guitars.

Put these in and upset your wives or parents. I personally love when my neighbor (the Facebook Famous) Lawnbro is out in his yard manicuring his lawn like its some sort of Japanese garden for meditation and I crank open the front windows, throw the aby switch into my rig so I can run my guitar to two amps and turn it up so loud his wife and kids cant hear how disappointed he is in them or whatever he says. I dunno hes always scowling. You should buy these pickups. I also have the Dimebucker bridge and the Jazz neck pickup in a different guitar and theyre all awesome and ridiculous. So good

Great Tone / Guitar Dependent

Product Review
There's a reason this set is so popular- the combination covers a plethora of tone from jazz to hard rock and all terrain in between. Build is top notch and consistent (I've owned two of these sets over the years).
In my opinion, they CAN work well in various guitars with a caveat or two:
The JB humbucker was originally designed for a 250K volume potentiometer. Be aware that, in use with a 500 K pot, the treble on the JB can become overwhelming. Annoyingly so. This is well articulated and documented but a lot of folks apparently overlook or miss that potential with the JB.
Also, 'resistance values' don't tell the whole story of a pickup's tonality. The 'jazz' humbucker seems well in the range of older style PAF tone, but believe me, this pickup can ROCK, too. Likewise, the JB with a DCR reading of over 14K can be articulate and nuanced with excellent string definition.
So enjoy...it IS a versatile set! Just be aware it sounds very different in guitars due to build, woods used and most of all, electronics / pot values.

Product Review
I had bought a Seymour Duncan SH2N Jazz pickup a couple of years ago to replace the neck pickup in my Ibanez AG75 archtop guitar because the original pickup sounded a little too dark for my needs. I play in a big band and sitting in the rhythm section with the piano, bass and drums, I needed a clearer sound to be heard. I was very much impressed with the output, clarity and musicality all the way up the neck the SH2N provided and, in fact, was sufficiently impressed that I purchased the Hotrodded set to install in my Ibanez AKJV95 archtop guitar too, am well pleased with the result and I do recommend the matched set. I am also happy with American Musical Supply. I have always received anything I have ordered from them in a timely fashion, have never had a complaint and will continue to buy whatever I need musically from them.

Got these to put into my epiphone gothic explorer so open up the sound. What a fantastic choice. Something I didn’t know would be pretty cool is the jazz pickup I put on bridge. Fantastic!

Having had this particular configuration on one other guitar , it only seemed fitting to have in my first project guitar. I say “when it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!!” No matter the genre or playing style this works... given the wiring configuration the possibilities are endless.. Going from one end of the musical spectrum to the other is effortless. Oh, let’s not forget the clarity and the razors edge cut these things give you. These kittens got claws.

You can never go wrong with Seymour Duncan. The Hot Rod set was the perfect addition to my Jim Root Tele to give me both twang and gain for my classic rock band, thanks to the 4 conductor wiring. These allow me to use one guitar for 95% of our setlist. Acquired a Schecter super Shredder and dropped a set of these in it to as my backup guitar. Seymour Duncan = pure greatness in my world.

Great Versatile Pickup Combinationi

Yes.
I've only had them for a couple weeks, so I can't say for sure. However, I use Duncan's in alot of my other guitars, and those have always stood the test of time. If not Seymour Duncan has great customer service and tech support so I have no worries here.
Your general opinion of this product.
I got this set with nickel covers and put them in an ES-335. Really versatile pickup combination that gives me very thick warm tones from the neck for clean stuff. The bridge is just an all around good lead pickup for rock, blues, whatever. It has good clarity from the bass, mids, and treble, but still warm.
They feel like magnets wound with wires, then placed in a metal case.
Dark and smooth, like Will Smith. The Jazz is thick and mellow, the JB is thick and kinda hot but not high output, like Scarlett Johannson.
The nickel covers give a classic vinytage look.
Pickups don't really have action, except for flying springs when you're mounting them.

I put these in my epi ulra II with a coil tap, they turned a very
good versatile guitar into a fire breathing monster. This guitar is the league of a guitar that costs three times as much now. The best 130 bucks you can spend.
