I have been looking for an old school hair metal tone without having buy another round of equipment. Adding this classic humbucker to the bridge on my Fender Strat was an easy and quick way to gain tons of tone and improved sustain. Duncan has made this model forever and it continues to impress.

Bad pickup
By: Jeremy

Product Review
I ordered this pickup to put in my Jackson Adrian smith model and this is the worst pickup ever. The thing is faulty and sounds weak and thin just like a weak single coil if not worse. And after contacting ams to send back I can’t even do that. Now I have to go thru Seymour Duncan and all the stuff they make me jump thru and I’ve already ordered a replacement. But I better not have to pay payments on a pickup that is faulty just because there quality control sucks. Usually Seymour Duncan is good pickups but this one is the worst sounding pickup of all time. Buyer beware of ordering pickups because you do not get anything back when you get a pc of garbage like I got. Very disappointed. In Seymour Duncan and ams.

This combo is legendary. And it sounds like it. This on the bridge and a jazz on the neck are awesome on my Paul Reed Smith SE. Just awesome from bass full in the neck the clean in the middle and the break up of the bridge sound. These pickups are worth it for a PRS SE. Mine is transparent blue. Got Grover tuners also and it's just great

This humbucker looks and sounds amazing in my strat. But the packaging from the factory made me have my doubts. Looked like it wasn't brand new. Plus the screws that came with it didnt even have the Phillips slots cut out on the end. I emailed duncan and they're sending more but I expected better qc from an American made product

I love the duncan JB covered bridge pickup. I replaced the dimarzio copy that came in my sterling luke, with the JB. Much more the tone i wanted. Better gain, and tighter bigger low end. Pickup is much quieter at high volume as well.

The pickup is phenomenal, everything I expected sound wise if not better, very rich, warm and full sounding with a clear as day top end. Sounds amazing with cleans and has this amazing signature mid snarl when driven. Unfortunately my pickup came with a bent mounting pole and slight micro cracking on the top but it ended up not being too much of an issue. Amazing pickup.

Got this for the bridge position on a Guitar Fetish ash body telecaster project . I used Seymour Duncan's pickup selector guide on their site to choose it. This really sounds good with the SD 59 in the neck. They are both coil tappable which sounds pretty good. They are also louder and more articulate than any humbucker I have owned. I would highly recommend them for quality, price and function. Also thanks to AMS for their fast shipping and excellent packing.

The thing sells itself, really. I mean so many guitarists have had this guy in their guitars. Mine is in a strat in an HSS configuration. It's perfect in the bridge, and with the four conductor wires I was able to wire it to coil split on the #2 position. Works like a charm and sounds even better! Gets me to some real grit, but cleans up VERY nicely on a 250k pot.

I play pretty much exclusively metal and was lookin for a decent priced pickup that could handle the gain and still not get lost in the mix. I threw it in a B.C. Rich Deluxe Edition Warlock and it’s straight brutal. Handles the few clean parts I play pretty well, sounds warm and not empty.

It doesn't cost much to achieve great tone with Seymour Duncan pickups. I purchased a humbucker for the bridge position on my new Stratocaster Players Series HSS. Even though I liked the stock humbucker I was looking for something with a little more output. I would recommend this pickup for hard rock, blues and everything in between.

This pickup paired with a 500k volume pot provided the tone I’ve been looking for!!! Finally I can say my tone is what I want. Great clarity and perfect tone. Pushes my blues junior just right and through pedals I can get any sound I want. Easy to install in my Strat. Wire colors are different than those on the original Fender humbucker but found a diagram that shows all the different brands and their wire colors for easy reference from Seymour Duncan. Seymour Duncan’s are the best!!

The JB is my all time favorite pickup and I have had one in many a instrument. I added this one to my PRS Clint Lowery SE and it sounds fantastic. I paired it with an SH2 in the neck. Couldn't be happier. This pickup can honestly deliver the goods in Jazz, Country, Rock and Metal. Basically it is an all around great pickup and it is inexpensive at 79 bucks. Love it!

Too much treble for a humbucking pickup

Way too much treble. Awaiting 250K tone pot to compensate for excessive highs. Incidentally, the JB was installed in a 2006 Gibson Les Paul Standard. The neck pickup installed at the same time was a 59 Duncan humbucker. Tonally superior to the stock JB.

Seymour Duncan = Quality
Had it for two years, rewired my guitar twice in different configurations, it hasn't failed me yet.
Your general opinion of this product.
Great sound for pushing a tube amp. I play a Les Paul through a Hot Rod Deluxe, and she starts to break up with the volume at 2.5-3, just a little. My strat starts to get dirty around 4. I play through a Hardwire CM2 which sounds unbelievably amazing for just about any over driven tones, and a Boss MT2 which is good for metalish stuff.
Very chunky, a little poppy even. Not like a single coil, but it has very good definition.
Harmonics are fantastic, I can pinch harmonics really easy with the MT2, and it has lots of chunk for the metal thing. With the CM2 it gives me any tone from classic metal to dirty blues with ease. This pickup sounds best with some drive, natural or otherwise. Clean its very modern sounding, lots of mids and highs and very punchy. This is a rather aggressive sound that will bring you through the mix no matter what you play. Guaranteed.
Mines the Zebra finish, matches my binding and flame top pretty good.

This pickup growls and screams, but also cleans
up for a great, punchy, clean tone. The "JB" is
actually Mr.Duncan's favorite pickup. I've tried
lots of pickups and this is the best I've found.
