Worth all the hype. Zero hum detected!

Product Review
I was skeptical that a new set of pickups would effect the tone of my guitar that much, but once I got my set wired in and played the first note, I understand now. The only downside is I will likely never be satisfied with a set of stock pickups again, now that I know what I'm missing!
Believe everyone's rave reviews for Seymour Duncan pickups. Easily the best upgrade I've ever done on a guitar, and made my $500 midrange sound like a $1k+ guitar, and not even a whisper of hum on the coil. I would definitely purchase these again.

Seems very wll made.
JUst got it.
Your general opinion of this product.
Very nice. It is REALLY quiet! I bought this to put in the middle position with a Duncan JB in the bridge. This does not seem to be quite as good a pairing as I had hope. I really wanted the hum canceling, though.

Single Coil Tone

This, like all Seymour Duncan pickups is of high quality. The exterior covers on the newer Seymour Duncan pickups seems to protect the windings and connections better than previous designs. Threaded brass inserts have been applied for easier mounting under a pickguard, though I suspect it would be a tight fit through the pickup rout. I mounted this pickup directly to the body rout, and needed to bore out the threads so that the appropriate mounting screws could pass through. The height is greater than a true single coil, but is in balance with the humbuckers when bottomed out in the cavity (plus a foam backing).
I have only recently purchased this pickup. Modifications that I have done using Seymour Duncan pickups are performing well after many years.
Your general opinion of this product.
This pickup provides the single coil tone I was seeking between two humbuckers. This is obviously in contrast to your first reviewer's preferences, although the description of this pickup's single coil tone in a humbucking design is explicit. Nowhere does it describe it to provide humbucking tone in a single coil size.

In combination with either humbucker, it provides a more vintage tone when distorted, or a more acoustic tone when clean. The bridge humbucker is isolated with a separate switch, so that it and the neck humbucker can be used in combination, along with the remaining 4 standard tones on the 5-way switch. This pickup, being used in the middle position is not very useful by itself, but it served my purpose quite well.
The exterior covers on the newer Seymour Duncan pickups provide a neater look, although the pickups tend to be a bit over-sized.

GOING BACKWARDS LIKE USUAL

Your general opinion of this product.
QUALITY:
The STK-S1 Sounds better to me. I see no benefit using the STK-S4 aside of the fact that they're phasing out the STK-S1.
FEATURES:
Maybe you could wire it for single coils. Big deal. You could also use a 5 way switch instead of bothering with unnecessary wiring. It sure won't sound any better!
EASE OF USE:
It's a pickup. Come on.
VALUE:
Not worth the price in my opinion. Seriously considering routing out the guitar and putting a REAL humbucker or finding the STK-S1. I've been playing 34 years and no one has tackled the age old problem of trying to get a strat "style" pickup to sound like a full sized humbucker. Apparantly it's impossible. Why don't they admit it instead of trying to egg everyone on.
SOUND:
In the bridge position the pickup sounds tinny and harsh. I also tried it with a compressor to get more sustain, but it sounds kinda nasally. I guess that's why there's no sound clips on th
