GREAT PICK UP AREA AND DETAIL
By: Matteo (MTVessel)

Product Review
This mic is ideal for a great pick up area with body and detail. Most condensers are small and lack body for singers, or Q and A mics for corporate. These mics also work better than SM58s and a replacement for table mics with talking heads. These have remarkable pick up area while preserving body of voice. Highly recommend!!!!

Outstanding Live Performance Microphone
By: Seth Bradford
Submitted: 1/22/2020
Product Review
I was a long time Sennheiser user with dynamic mics and an SM58 user before that.. I decided to make the jump to a condenser recently and WOW. I immediately noticed a difference in the subtle characteristics of my voice that were lost using a dynamic mic (even though they were great mics as well). There was no extra time spent trying to EQ this mic to sound good.. it was fantastic right out of the box. My biggest concern when purchasing a condenser mic for live performance was gain before feedback since I use the Bose L1 system which sits behind me. I was quite please with how much you can crank the volume up without any feedback issues! I would highly recommend this mic to any vocalist looking to improve their live sound.

Love this mic. It’s perfect for live performances with my band. I had tried a shure dynamic mic but due to my vocal processor, could not get the proper volume levels. So tried the condenser and it’s absolutely perfect! My boyfriend has been in a band for 15 years and suggested the shure mics to me and I really could be happier with the quality. Highly recommended!

Product Review
This is a really great microphone! After online reviews of many different microphones, I decided to give this microphone a trial run. Being a Shure product, I knew the realibility factor would be there. The construction is really good, and the sound is even better. I have a low baritone voice and this microphone is just what the doctor ordered. There is nice low end without boominess and the mid's and highs are just right to bring openess to the voice. This is a very clear and open sounding microphone. You can look at other manufacturers products, but you can't beat a Shure. Believe me I know I have been in the music business for a long time. Try it, it may be what you are looking for!

No sure on this. Time will tell.
Sound quality is excellent compared to a 58. Doesn't seem to be as sturdily built as the 58 or 57 so I wonder about the durability.
Plug and play. Can't get easier than that. Remember to turn your phantom power on.

Very solid, new thicker body is great!
Very powerful, clear, super low noise. The only thing I would add is a switch, but with this much quality in performance I can live without the switch.
Flawless comes to mind! The only draw back is small stages you may get feedback, just adjust your levels to combat it, and your good to go.
This is a powerful vocal mic if your singer has a wide range this is the mic for you!

The best on Stage Vocal Mic I've ever used

Excellent quality, very good construction..
I think if I could change one thing it would be to make the shape of the shaft fatter like the SM58
Plug it in, turn on the phantom, adjust the EQ. I love it.. Just make sure your floor monitors are off axis and you'll be ok as far as feed back is concerned.
Comparing this vocal mic to a beta 58 is like chalk and cheese. Nearly every sound engineer I've worked with has said how the mic produces clear vocals.

Your general opinion of this product.
I payed $180 new for this. It is one of the best mic's I have. Crytal clear hi's and lows. I have a wide vocal range and this works. A must have. Best for small rooms, clubs.
The number one mic I have is the Audix VX-10. I paid $300 for it. This is the outdoors belt it out mic.
I also bought the phantom power supply Audix makes ( 2 channel). I recomend this power supply with both of these mic's. Others did not seem to power em up as well.

It sounds great at home studio, very versatile - can be used for overhead mic, also for acoustic instruments, yet its live applications are useless.

Your general opinion of this product.
QUALITY:
This product is made like my other microphones; same materials, construction; however, the decal is already dog-earring and we've only had a couple of practices. br>
FEATURES:
I purchased this microphone with the hopes that it would replace my Shure Beta 58A. This 87A doesn't even come close to the sound reproduction of the 58A. I would have thought that with the additional frequency response allowed with the 87A that a better product would be produced; guess again. br>
EASE OF USE:
Like my other Shure microphones, this handles easily; fits well in the hand.
VALUE:
Having to spend over $200 for the microphone, as well as having to purchase an ART phantom II power supply, with the lack of sound reproduction that this gets, it's money wasted. br>
SOUND:
After purchasing this and bringing it to practice, we spent nearly two (2) hours trying to get this to perform to expectations. With the ART phantom II fo

Great Mic But...

Your general opinion of this product.
QUALITY:
Seems like a solid mic. Built tough like my SM58 but lighter and WAY better sounding.
FEATURES:
I like the deep null of the polar pattern. Follow the included guidlines for monitor placement, and it gets great gain before feedback. It could use an on/off switch. Also the case it came with looks like a solid black Ziplock bag (cheapo). Also, the "bass roll-off" feature is built in and permanent, as opposed to having a switchable attenuation pad for the low end.
EASE OF USE:
The supercardioid pattern can be a bit tricky if you move around a lot when you sing. It isolates off axis sounds very well so if your mouth is not within 10 degrees of the Axis, you will experience rapid gain loss. This is a good thing in isolating unwanted noise, it just takes some getting used to. I use and ART Tube Pack Pre/Compressor with it and it sounds fabulous. Just make sure you practice with it a bit before you go on stage, as it is significantl

Your general opinion of this product.
QUALITY:
Let me put it this way: This mic survives the Shure Drop Test... I also, expect it to outlast me... So, yeah. That's pretty dependable.
FEATURES:
It's a condenser. You get the incomparable sound of a condenser mic in a rugged, live performance package!
EASE OF USE:
For me, it was just plug in and play. It took very minimal tweaking or EQing. It sounded amazing right off the bat.
VALUE:
I would gladly pay considerably more than I did for this unit...
SOUND:
Obviously, this is where the mic shines! It completely eliminates feedback. It also eliminates that "Gee! I"m singing in a box" feeling that you get from the SM58. It's chrystal clear and so natural. Silky smooth and tight, this is an amazing microphone. I would say that this is undoubtedly the best mic you could buy for live performance. No other compares, in my opinion. I love it!
