Ive used a couple of older tube compressors, one of them a really nice La2a copy and they sound good, but not better than this pedal. I dont really like what modern "studio" compressors do to the sound of an electric guitar at all. they make everything sound like everything else. For 4000 dollars you can buy a digital thing that does for guitar what autotune does for vocals. ill pass.for 200 bucks the Blackfinger is a no brainer.
