How playable do you consider this product to be? This product was very easy to install and operate. I managed to install it on my own and in about 15 minutes I had made my first recording. Plan to do lots of mastering with this baby, Using Analog for now but nice to know the optical is there for future applications I love a good bargin and I purchased this unit as a non-factory resealed item. Didn't know what to expect but figured it was a return for some reason. Warranty in tact I went for it! Read the manual,set it up to do some work and the disc drive would not take a disc. OOPS! What Tha!! took a look through the top vent grille and hey, the ribbon connector for the drive was not connected. HELLO!! I didn't want go through the hastle of sending it back if possible. I made the connection and it works fine. BUT, was it tested when returned?? or did a tech install a new drive and just forget to connect the pin connector? Who knows? Just glad it was simple and I have the device I wanted and am recording some sweet tunes now!!

AWESOME!!!! it makes a difference when you got it working right.... Reliability How has it stood up over time? its new right now but i believe in tascam's technology to last an eternity....
