General Your general opinion of this product. The DP-004 is a real bargain for the $$$ paid!!!! After "mastering" this recorder, I may purchase a DP-008 in the future!!!! I did not want to invest a higher amount of $$$ at this time!!!! Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? This is my first Tascam product....However, it seems to be made well, & should last many years with a little TLC!!!! Features What do you consider to be the best features of this product? What features would you add to this product if you could? The DP-004 has many features for its' size!!! It sure beats recording 35 years ago in my bathroom with a portable cassette recorder!!!! Was the manual helpful? How playable do you consider this product to be? Tascam DP-004 in my opinion, has somewhat of a high learning curve!!!! Perhaps, this is because I am over 50 years of age & am familiar with recording on reel to reel or cassette!!!! Sound How is the tone? Tone depends on quality of headphones used....I am using audio-technica ATH-M30 headphones purchased from AMS....Perhaps I will upgrade in the future.... Reliability How has it stood up over time? Only had the DP-004 for a few days, once again, it should last for many years!!!!

External Mini Speakers; because the way it comes...you have to use headphones to hear what it was that you just recorded...hum*#!! Ease of Use How easy is this product to use? Quite a task to be sure! Sound How is the tone? Okay, I guess. Nothing fancy (and I'm usind Bose $350.00 headsets). Reliability How has it stood up over time? To new to give an honest opinion. I probably could have done better with a recorder much easier to use - might have to spend a few extra bucks, but it would be worth it (especially for a semi-novice like myself...though I have been a musician for nearly 30 years now (guitarist).

Get a bigger SD card first thing. unless your doing one song at a time. works great for live performances. Fairly easy to use, but you need to read the manual as you go thru it for the first time or two. Sound How is the tone? It will sound as good as you are. No better No worse. You might pick up an A/C adapter if you use it alot, save the batteries for when you need them.

Your general opinion of this product. It's a major "step forward" in compact engineering for recording equipment. Well worth the price! Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? What features would you add to this product if you could? Being able to do overdubs is nice, and recording two tracks at a time is certainly a plus. The only feature I would add to it is maybe being able to completely work with a computer to where it can entirely controlled by it with the use of function keys, etc. Ease of Use How easy is this product to use? Soon after I installed the batteries and browsed through the manual, I was able to start recording. Amazing! It holds to its promise to be able to work with a PC. Because it creates WAV files out of my music, I'm able to put it through music editing software and mixers and convert the music to MP3 files and share them via E-Mail. Wow! The manual is written well, not much confusion in the style of writing. The DP-004 can be used indoors and outdoors. And its very durable. Sound How is the tone? Good sound! Just amazing how technology has advanced, and Tascam (Teac Corporation) has leaped upon it to make its products better for musicians. Reliability How has it stood up over time? Have had it for a short time thus far, but I haven't had any problem with it and don't think I will.
