Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? tascam is good, always has been. this is a LONG way from the old cassette 4 tracks. Features What do you consider to be the best features of this product? What features would you add to this product if you could? lots of features, but it is missing some other things that would have been nice. more onboard effects and some type of drum machine would have been great. Also would be nice if when usb connected, it got it's power from the computer. it would have been dynamite were the screen bigger and with on screen touch controls! Ease of Use How easy is this product to use? How easy is the product to use with other products? Did it take long for you to learn to use this product? Was the manual helpful? How playable do you consider this product to be? as with any of these types of small multitrack recorders, there is a learning curve. But, i was able to get started and made my first song from start to finished master in about 3 hours. Sound How is the tone? In the end, it's all about the sound, isn't it? This is crystal clear, lots of headroom, great mixdown and mastering features. To be honest, it's fantastic. I downloaded a free stereo drum track, put it in a file, transferred the file to an sd card, put the sd card in the machine, uploaded that to channels 7 and 8. laid bass on channel 6, stereo guitar on 3 and 4, vocals on 1 and 2. Not a SINGLE piece of interference, not a 'pop' no distortion, no degredation, no 'funny' sounding passages, etc. simply wonderfully clean. when done, i burned it to a cd for my car, i put it into i tunes, via usb, i put it into e mails to send to friends, on the i pod, etc. Each step was fairly easy and intuitive. others complain about interfaces to computers etc. i'm not there yet, i'm old school, i want real faders and buttons.. let's face it, it's really just a tool to put down ideas, this has the sound quality for any use, but it might not have all that one would want. Reliability How has it stood up over time? time will tell General Your general opinion of this product. well made, fairly heavy for it's size. well laid out, however, the manual could be easier to navigate. The in screen menus, cut and paste etc. takes a while to understand.
Very intuitive
