Hi my Name is Oneil i gave it a 3 star only because when i purchase the product it was fairly new it was the last one left plus it was already use so it didn't came in the original box long story short while im using the portable digital recorder it keep making an annoying sound when im singing in it most of the time so that didn't sit well with me overall its a good product just the one i purchase wasn't good because someone else had it first and return it but ill take the lost because i love Native Instruments so I'll stop here.

I’ve had my eye on this unit for quite some time. Did my research and when I saw this in the opened box I went for it. This unit is extremely user friendly for a first time user. I highly recommend Tascam for all your recording needs

Fantastic! I'm now able to record at band practice, take the recording home and then upload to my computer. I can practice with it and add to it if I like. I love it. This is my fourth purchase from American Musical Supply. I'm a satisfied customer. I will be back for more.

You can never go wrong with Tascam, and they’ve have actually climbed to new new levels with this Portable DR05. I’ve worked with bigger units as such as the DR4, but the portables are easy and they don’t take up space. The playback and recording sound is excellent. Whether you plug-in or just simply keep it mobile you get equal sound. I recommend it!

I think this thing works well. Once you read and understand what is going on, it is very, very easy to use. I lost my old Tascam, which I think was supposed to be a model better than this, but Tascam must have gotten a better speaker input (this thing also has ability to increase or decrease sensitivity) depending on where you set it in the room and how loud people are playing. You still all have to play close to the same loudness. The sound reproduction was better than my last one. This is good for band practices, not for making perfect sounding cds. We need to be real about our expectations. This thing is a sure win for me with rechargeable batteries. Been using it for about 4+ months, but I treat it right.

Very good and many recording ways available from standard .wav to mp3s( low to high quality )
pretty solid build. Haven't tried dropping it to see if durable and or dependable.
Very simple to use and easy to go thru the menu. Took all of 3-5 minutes to go thru and understand the settings. Haven't open the manual yet
Sound is really good. recorded music in a big room and sounds like if you are standing right there

Your general opinion of this product.
Amazing. Everyone should own one of these whether or not your a musician. This has the capacity to function as a court reporter or capture beautiful music. It's file capacity or looping to adjusting all parameters. Fabulous!
Very strong and of quality. Don't record in the shower or play hacky sack with it.
You can record and play back instantly. You'll need to purchase a power supply separately, otherwise use 2 "AA"s. It seems like it can be complex due to the many wonderful functions it offers. But it is a recording studio in your palm. Your greatest task will be positioning the recorder in different locations to find the sweet spot of the room. You can still mix your way around anything with this.
Too soon to tell. The omnidirectional condenser mics are fabulous and the additional external mic input/ bypass is great as well. One big studio condenser mic in the center of the room mixes very well as well. Remember this is a recording studio in your hand for $70.00 to $100.00. What are you waiting for. I compared this to something called a "Z**M H6".
Exact, crystal clear. Better than an old Studer 2" tape machine the size of a washing machine I had in the 1970's. Aquire two things
Too soon to tell but it's getting lots of use.

Well made, not made to be tossed around, just got it, so far it plays what I record well.
Features for me as a guitar player is to be able to slow a track down without lowering the pitch
This does require a bit of a sit down with the manual as there are some sub programs to navigate, but you can skirt the real deep stuff and just record and play.
The tone is suprisingly good for a unit of this size.
I've only had it for a couple of weeks, but so far, no issues.

Good recorder for the money if you want to record a rehersal or some ideas on the fly, and bring them back to the home studio.

The unit seems to be well made. Nice feel to the controls, and placement really does make it easy to operate with one hand.
Tascam did a good job with the mics. Does a real good job of picking up the low end and sounds nicely balanced. The Limiter works well, but I haven't used the 'Peak Reduction' feature yet. Not sure if I'd ever use the guitar tuner feature.
Menu system is logical, and it's easy to find things. Some of the things in the display are really tiny, though. Even with my reading glasses, it can be hard to see.
Sound quality is great. Nice low end response and smooth top end. Typical Tascam.
I've only had this unit for a few weeks now, but so far so good. I've owned other Tascam products, and have never had a problem.

Excellent quality this a 5 star recorder
For the price the features this recorder has make it the best buy of any and worth much more than what you pay for it
The directions are simple and easy to read..just a few minutes of reading and you'll have a total feel for how easy it is to use
The ability of this recorder is outstanding..for the money it's a steal. You could spend 3 times as much and not get as good a recorder
Very the Tascam is built like a tank-reliabe it has been dropep fallen off a table and really rough housed and it still works like a charm

The simple menu system. It seems they really worked hard to get this easy to use.

yes. It hasn't failed me yet. And I bet it won't.
I'd say the compact size and the quality. To get 24 bit/96K quality out of something this small is fantastic.
I didn't need the manual too much when I got this because it was very easy to use right out of the box. I put batteries in, hit the power button, and hit record. That easy!
sound is excellent and with 24 bit/96k quality it's sounds very natural.
