Pushrod_Music from Roscoe, TX, USA
Quality:
Made up to my standards. I've used others and this one really stands out.
Features:
The ability to install easily via downloads from Tascam and plug in and start recording directly to my DAW. I use Presonus Studio One and it works perfectly.
Ease of Use:
Simple as 1.2.3.
Value:
Compared to some of the other products I've used in the past... (Firepod and a Tascam 2 Track) Tascam has outdone themselves on bang for the buck. I should have paid 3 times as much for all the features this thing has.
Appearance:
Looks bad a$$ in my rack and is easy to understand. No frills or bullsh*t. Just outstanding.

Great sound, easy to use & low latency in Win7!
Quality:
Overall it is well made, solid, substantial, although the knobs are plastic, with normal use should last
Features:
Runs perfectly in Windows 7 64-bit with Sonar, Garritan Steinway and does it with 49ms latency! Sound is excellent!
Ease of Use:
Installed the drives, made a couple connections, was ready to play in 10 minutes
Value:
This unit is comparable to rack units from other makers that typically run $400 to $600 more - this is a steal at this price!
Appearance:
Good looking rack unit, better than expected actually.

Bang for the Buck!
Quality:
The over-all quality is very good, but the plastic knobs are flimsy.
Features:
16 in at 24 bit on a single USB 2.0 connection. I have so far streamed 12 inputs live without a single glitch. would be better if the 8 mic inputs were combo jacks so they could be used with line level stuff too, also there is no separate headphone mix so you have to monitor the inputs at recording level. Usually this is ok, but sometimes it causes issues.
Ease of Use:
simple to use. Loaded the software, plugged it in and turned it on. Nothing to it.
Value:
This by far the cheapest 16 input recording solution I have found and it actually works.
Appearance:
uhh.. Blue and shiney...

Quality:
It's pretty well made. The unit is solid encased in metal but the knobs are plastic and feel a little cheap.
Features:
This unit has very low to no latency. Being a drummer, its a good feeling to hear every hit right on time. Has seperate monitor and headphone knobs. You can choose to have phantom power on channels 1-4, 5-8 or both. It also has 2 inputs in the front for guitar/bass.
Ease of Use:
Extremely easy to use. Plug USB into the computer, install the CD, and the unit is ready to go.
Value:
For $299, it's an exceptional value. Presonus and others start at $400 for the same unit. Only difference is the Tascam's USB 2.0 vs Presonus firewire. Not much of a difference in latency.
Appearance:
Stylish deep blue faceplate with black exterior. Its a pretty big unit though (front to back). LED lights for each input that fade from green to yellow to red depending if the audio peaks. Great metering.

Not too shabby...
Quality:
Appears to be a solid unit. The knobs seem a bit flimsy but it's not the kind toy you would or should beat the crap out of.
Features:
Pretty simple really. If you know how to use your software and have a nice mic selection you don't need a ton of options. Running on my XP machine, haven't tried it on 7 yet.
Ease of Use:
Had it up, running and recording 9 channels in about a half hour. Later, I plopped it into a case and did some live performances with my laptop. pretty cool.
Value:
So far so good. I have high hopes that this will last quite a while.
Appearance:
It is what it is... but I added racing stripes for the heck of it.

Quality:
10/10 this thing is built very well. All metal casing, quality nobs and switches. It should last a very very long time. Also, the sound quality is phenomenal. We were previously using an ADAT machine which worked great until it wouldn't take the tapes any longer. Replaced it with some software and this interface and haven't regretted the choice one bit.
Features:
Price, Sound Quality, Ease of use. Everything about this model is great. I have no complaints at all. The only feature I would like to see added on would be 1/4 jack inputs in addition to the 8 XLR inputs on channels 1-8.
Ease of Use:
The interface was very easy to set up & get working with our recording software. Pretty much just plug in and fix the settings in the program you're using. We didn't really use the manual, didn't need to.
Value:
Oh yeah. Very good value. You can't find a better interface for this price. Bought it for $299.00. AMS usually has the best prices around.
Appearance:
Stylish ;) it has neat red and green lights.

Construction quality is good
Ease of Use:
There is a learning curve to this product. There is not much information in the manual
Value:
No, If you are running windows 7 64Bit, it will not work. I have tried to contact support and it took them 2 weeks to respond. They told me they do not have drivers to support my system and was not sure when they would have them or if they will have them. This to me is unexceptable customer support. I would recomend buying another brand that keeps their drivers up to date.

This interface is " The Goods "
Quality:
The unit is well contructed, although the gain knobs might be a little "lighweight"
Features:
The best feature is 14 simultaneous inputs. The Mic preamps are excellent. I do not care for the phantom power being switched in banks of four, individual phantom would have been better...but for 299.99 I will not complain. A wordclock in and out would have also been nice. The sound is clean and quiet.
Ease of Use:
The unit is very easy to use. I used it to record a church praise group using all of the 14 analog inputs, it didn't blink or hiccupp. Follow the directions for a correct install, and do not use the unit with a VIA usb chipset. The control pannel function is where you get control over the latency. Use this prior to setting up your interface in your DAW ( PC only ) Latency issues are adressed trhough yur DAW on a Mac.

Good quality interface!
Quality:
I bought my US1641 about 18 months ago, and it's held up well! 100% dependable, and is solidly built compared to other products.
Features:
8 great sounding XLR channels, plus 1/4" ins on the back for using my Avalon vocal pre and POD. Record an entire band using this unit! I wish it were chainable like Presonus gear, but in my case that's a lot of worrying about nothing. USB works great with my laptop for remote recordings.
Ease of Use:
Like all other interfaces, the challenge is to get your recording software to recognize the hardware. I run XP and Vista without problem. I've used it to record audio in Cubase, Reaper, and FL Studio 8. ... although I have yet to try the MIDI features.
Value:
I thought it was a good value at $400 ... $300 is a steal!
Appearance:
Really nice looking unit. However, I overtightened the rack screws and chipped paint around the holes. Wasn't expecting it to be that fragile. Good front XLR access and easy access to gain knobs compliment the layout appearance.

TASCAM US-1641 ROCKS
Quality:
I believe the Tascam US-1641 to be very dependable and has a very well built design not only built well but looks great.
Features:
I believe the best feature of the Tascam US-1641 to be how fast and acurate it is. The latency is awesome. Almost perfect .
Ease of Use:
The Tascam US-1641 is very easy to use weather it's recording one or 16 tracks at once. I find it to be very easy to use.
Value:
Well seeing how it went on sale after I already purchased it, it was still a good deal.
Appearance:
The looks are awesome with the blue caseing and the chrome knobs.
