Not worth the money
Quality:
Once again superb craftsmanship, the guitar itself was wonderful, plugged in not so great
Sound:
The Tone is great, just like all Taylor's but when you plug it in, prepare for mediocrity, as well as lots of feedback.
Reliability:
Horrible when plugged in. I spent 2 years making excuses for why it would feedback all the time (even with a feedback suppressor) and why it sounds no better than my friends much cheaper guitar plugged in.
Overall:
Taylor makes great guitars no doubt, But the electronics on this guitar are no better than a $400 Guitar, IT DOES NOT HAVE THE EXPRESSION SYSTEM just a cheap pick up with a different name.
Playability and Feel:
Taylor make a great guitar, but the electronics in this guitar ruin it's otherwise great reputation, they should be ashamed of themselves.
Tone:
Tone is great, even not to low great recording guitar with a mic, plugged in though I believe I already stated the problems with it
Finish:
Finish was perfect. Taylor builds a great guitar

2006 is the last year they were made in USA for these models

I have a 2006 214e nad it can't be beat. Solid wood sides,solid top. Made in USA. In 2007 to present Taylor started making this line in Mexico with laminate sides and put the "Taylor expression system" in it.

Overall:
My 2006 model can't be beat. I just purchased mine from a local music store. It was still brand new just old stock. It was their last 2006 model and they had some of the newer made in Mexico 214e's and when played side by side there was no comparison between the U.S.A & Mexican made. The sound quality of the USA just blew it away. very smooth bright that articulated the bass notes. This is a great guitar if you can find one made 2006 and before.
