Subject:
The cleanest sounding acoustic I've ever played
Quality:
Perfect. Never seen its equal.
Sound:
I have a Martin DC16RGTE as well and while that guitar is considerably louder on the low strings, this one just sounds so much more professional. On the Martin the lows tend to drown out the highs.. On the Taylor 916 every note is perfectly balanced. You play a G chord and the thing sounds like a single note practically. Perfectly tonally balanced guitar. That may not be what your after though. unplugged and unmic'ed just singing along while playing guitar, the Martin is a bit more forgiving just because of its booming bass notes. For me who plays alot of Dave Matthews and jack johnson, my martin fits the style more. Until you plug the 916 in that is. Cause the electronics on this sucker are AMAZING! So simple and yet alot of control. This is perfect for someone like me who isn't a professional sound technician. All bets are off when this is plugged in. Simply the best acoustic guitar I've heard plugged in.
Reliability:
Just got it, but feels like its build very solid.
Overall:
Five star on quality and sound. First one I received had a hairline crack running up the middle on the back seam. I called XXXX up and they swapped it right out with no expense and very little effort on my part. So great job AMS.
Playability and Feel:
The tonal balance all the way up the fret board is flawless. I've never heard such clear harmonics as on this guitar. Neck thickness is just right and very solid feeling. Light and precise sound.
Tone:
Bright tone, crisp, lows are a little lacking compared to a martin. The 916 was supposed to be trying to compete with martin with some more lows. Not quite there yet. Still the most professional sounding guitar I've ever played.
Finish:
Best I've ever seen. Should have sent a poet.
Action:
Lowest factory action i've seen. Very playable out of the box. But I still am going to get a setup done on it. tempting not to because it does sound so good now though. And with some lighter gauge strings on here it may be alright.
Skill Level:
