Subject:
HIGH END GUITAR FOR LESS COIN
Quality:
The quality of the DN4 is top of the line. An outstanding made in the USA product.
Reliability:
I recently purchased this guitar so I cannot honestly comment on this area. However, if it stands up like most Taylors that I have read about. I can see myself passing this on to my grandchildren with the same if not better tone than it has today.
Overall:
Excellent guitar. I have a Gibson J-30 Roswood that I paid double the price for 10 years ago. The quality and tone of this guitar really puts my Gibson to shame, especially for the price. I really have to tip my hat to Taylor for making such a fine product.
Playability and Feel:
Everything is perfect right out of the box. No adjustments needed. The body shape feels a bit smaller and more comfortable than my Gibson and the neck is a little bit thinner too. This is the perfect fit for me.
Tone:
Think of a high end rosewood Gibson/Martin and amplify the sound with just as balanced (if not better) tone across the whole spectrum.
Finish:
The Ovangkol back and sides have a deep butterscotch rosewood grain with a slight quilting effect. It may not come with clear coat gloss, but the satin stain brings out the beauty of the wood.
The top has a glossy finish and brings out the bright rich colors of the Sitka Spruce top. The cream binding is flat in color and really ties the look of the goss top and the satin
Action:
Action was low and smooth. Excellent for any style of play.
