Quality
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
These are fairly weighty and seem to be very well made. I don't personally own one (for financial reasons, not lack of interest in the product) but they seem to be present in most studio and live situations in which I find myself. And I've never heard from anyone of one having broken.
Features
What do you consider to be the best features of this product? What features would you add to this product if you could?
This doesn't offer anything too fancy, just a wide palette of high quality tone shaping.
Sound
How is its Tone?
The sound quality is first rate, very clean, with very little added noise.
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
I read one of these reviews where the writer commented that these are somewhat difficult to adjust onstage while playing, or something to that effect. While I agree with that statement about it, I find that whenever I've used one of these I usually don't feel the need to make many (if any) adjustments once I have my initial sound dialed in for tracking or sound check. In any event, it's about as easy to adjust onstage as any other stompbox style gear would be. If you're the type of player who wants to use a wide variety of different tones in a live setting, Tech 21 also makes footswitchable versions of the SansAmp, so you can store a few presets and easily move between them.
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
Tone shaping is these are for, and you can get just about any tone you could want out of it. I highly recommend them for both recording and live situations. They're great by themselves, or for mixing with an amp sound.
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
I like the very simple finish on this. Personally I don't really care for flashy looking gear; I like an understated look, and I wouldn't change a thing about the way this looks.
