Vox amp simulator, USB interface
Quality:
When this came out, it went for $200+, yet, the JamVox drivers left a lot to be desired--this turned off a great many guitarists to the product. Drivers have improved greatly since then, though. Download the newest driver.
Sound:
Very fine. Users indicate it's best to use a tube home theater amp and good guitar cabs--cleaner than guitar amps and heads. (Why add more unintended distortion?). Aimed generally at home stereo owners.
Reliability:
Total setup not easily road-worthy/ gig-ready. PCs and PC monitors aren't completely "solid-state" or otherwise sturdy-- software and hard drives may be temperamental. Linux OS use not possible, either.
Overall:
Very fine product. Get's users into the "world of Vox!" (Now, I own a Valvetronix 30, as well.) Downloaded software and updates are "free." The JamVox usb interface is necessary to use this software.
Playability and Feel:
Has a tuner--generally, all such products do, though. Uses a PC to control--may be clunky. It has an XLR input with its own volume control--works.
Tone:
This merely simulates amps and pedals: It does so pretty well. This Korg-made product is intended to give users an idea about Vox amps, pedals, and, other products--for purchasing later (some simulations are for famed legacy products)--to try out the different tones and features achievable. Many now use this and competitor products instead of pedals.
Finish:
Fine. Seems heavy duty. Case isn't metal, though--seems like some type of composite material.
Action:
Fine--works through its handy small speaker. Doesn't "get along" well with some competitor products using Windows. The JamVox makes their native driver(s) unusable--so, one has to switch to the ASIO4ALL generic driver (free download) in order to use competitor products--increases latency--makes the competitor products difficult to use. I'm upgrading the innards of my Windows PC in order better to deal with this latency. Can't adjust the ASIO driver the JamVox settings directly--it "hides,' integrated totally in the JamVox software....

JamVOX is Awesome!
Quality:
Almost too easy to set up and the options available are impressive. I was able to recreate my pedal board without having to set it up. I had a little glitch with installation of the updated version of the software, but who doesn't run into that problem now and again...
Sound:
For an itty-bitty powered speaker, its ok. Listen through head phones, cool. Plug it into your amp-YIKES!!!
Reliability:
No issues to date.
Overall:
Wow. I saw this ina guitar magazine and became curious. So I compared it to any other product I could find like it and could not find the same versitility for the price.
