General What is your overall opinion of this product? The action was a little high and my hand was cramping. I changed the saddle with a shorter or lower one. Now I have 2mm action all the way across at the 17the fret. It plays good now. Also straitened neck to .010 at 8th fret. The Yamaha strings sound great with the rosewood. Quality What is your opinion of the quality of this product? How does it work for different genres of music? This guitar FG730S was bought about 5 years ago. It's cherry sunburst. The guitar stays in tune very well. A great sounding guitar thanks to the Rosewood back and sides. The Yamaha Strings are amazing too. They are the original strings. I don't know how they can sell these so inexpensivly. I got mine because I read Rosewood makes for a sweet sounding guitar. And so it is. Good looking to. Feel Was it easy to reach the strings? How comfortable was the playing position? For me the action was too high. I solved it by changing the saddle, the white strip underneath the strings. I found a shorter one, it was very easy to change. I straitened the neck a little and now she plays and stays in tune remarkably well. Tone Is the tone well balanced? How does it project? The guitar is capable of producing many tones. My sister even commented about how nice it sounds. Sometimes I play softly and it produces a delicate sound. Then sometimes I finger pick and do some rock and roll. It stays in perfect tune for days. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? It's beautiful. My sister even commented on the finish, Cherry Sunburst. The finish was flawless. The Rosewood looks very expensive. Value Did you get what you were expecting for the price? How does it compare to similar products in the same price range? At this price range it is a perfect entry level guitar. Somebody like me that's been playing 46 years keeps it next to the Lazyboy in the TV room. And I grab it every day. It's a great value. You get a nice guitar with many years of playability. Playability How was the action out of the box? It was too high for me. I loosened the strings and pulled the saddle bridge right out and put in a shorter one. Also I straitened the neck clearance to .010 at the 8th fret. I used the Fender proceedure. It was EZ.
well worth the money

General Your general opinion of this product. Out of the box the guitar is beautiful with indian rosewood sides and back. The front has a natural finish on the solid sitka spruce top which makes this guitar amazing. The guitar is incredible for the price Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? excellent craftsmanship found no flaws at all could not believe the quality for the price.I have a friend who played it and he couldnt see how the price was so low. He normaly plays higher priced guitars and has a Martin but said he may have to get one of these said he has played guitars at the 1000 dollar price range and up that dont sound near as good as this one and would not be ashamed at all to play it on a stage. Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? this guitar has spunk when strumming chords it resonates through your body yet fingerpicked it has a warm and gentle tone whatever you want it to do it obeys Finish How did the stain or paint job look? beautiful expensive looking binding all around body and headstock looks as a much more expensive guitar
Beautiful Finish...Outstanding Tone...Excellent Value

Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? Very solid feel. Fit and finish are flawless. The full binding, including the head stock is a very nice detail. The abalone inlays on the headstock and finger board as well as the rosette are beautifully done also. The FG730S is appointed way beyond its price level. More tastefully done than many guitars at 5 times the price. The indian rosewood back and sides are beautifully figured and the solid sitka spruce top is the same as on guitars costing 10 times as much. A rosewood bridge and fingerboard, and tortoise pickguard complete the package. General Your general opinion of this product. You could spend a whole lot more and still not get an instrument of this quality or grade. Without a doubt, the Yamaha FG730S is one of the best deals in acoustic guitars available. I've heard rumors of a discontinuation of the FG models. Better get one while they are still available because you'll kick yourself for sure if you don't and then run into someone that did and you get a chance to experience first hand what you passed by...IMHO of course. Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? Finger picked, the tone is "warm and gentle", a TUSQ A3 produces a slightly "muddy" yet full bodied tone and a Dunlop Tortex 73mm, produces bright, clean highs, clear, strong mids and full lows. Volume can be what ever you want it to be. The harder you play, the louder it sings. With excellent sustain, the FG730S provides a very pleasing harmonic reverb as it fades away. Overall, this is a remarkably beautiful, richly appointed, well made and surprisingly affordable guitar. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? Absolutely FLAWLESS! Glass smooth, with a very high level gloss and free of any imperfections as far as I can see.
Best first guitar EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? I havn't really beatn' it up too badly so don't ask me about that. Hasn't failed me yet. Inotation only went out once in 5 years! pretty good. General Your general opinion of this product. For starters and intermediate guitarists, this guitar is great. Solid wood top creates top notch sound. I've owned this guitar for 5 years and it's great. I've dropped it countless times and it holds up! Not to mention I got it signed by Doyle Dykes who said to me, "I had this guitar when I was [13]...". Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? Sounds almost like a Taylor would if it were this price. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? great.
