Subject:
A synth I wanted for two years
Quality:
Built like a tank and heavy like one too. So far, just the rubber feet on the bottom keep coming off on mine.
Features:
Sampling, 8 elements, computer integration, great feeling key bed with sensitive after touch. I wish it was expandable though, with FM or virtual analog boards. I'd also like to have coax digital ins and XLR ins.
Ease of Use:
A complicated board, but anyone with one finger can sound good on it. I don't like the arppegiators because it reminds me of cheesy auto accompanyment so I prefer to sequence my own stuff. I bet there are pro CDs out there with the Motif arps in the songs.
Sound:
In one word "Wow". Seriously though, I think the Roland G has better sounding pianos, and the Korg M3, synthy stuff. I think the Motif rules in everything else worth having. Excellent organs, good leslie sim, killer guitars. I mean I can hear the rosin on the bow on some of the string sounds.
Action:
Great playable key bed in my opinion. I mean I had to do handstands on my Fantom X in order for it to recognize after touch. The Motif, no problem.
Value:
Well, of course I wish it was several hundred dollars less, but I got a great deal and great service at AMS. Worth the price. Check out the pros, chances are you will see a Motif in their racks.
