Product Rating Product Review Looks great, and sounds good too. I needed a keyboard for composition at college and this does the trick. Good basic keyboard without all the unnecessary extras. Great for all ages. I didn't even know there were demos :) All the sounds are very realistic. Good weight and simple controls. Best deal for basic 61 key keyboard.

A Minimalist's Dream

The quality is very good. Sturdy constructions and workmanship. The best feature is actually the built in speakers, which were better sounding than I thought they would be. I enjoy the minimalist aspect of the keyboard, as I never would need the sounds that more "fancy" keyboards would have. I bought the keyboard mainly for this reason, and am very satisfied with the features it has. I would add, however, that the piano sound is not as good as I expected, and one cannot seem to split the keyboard when using the foot pedal, which only typically produces a sustain. which must be used tastefully. I would like to have seen more piano sound variations available. Very easy to use. Overall, the tone is fine, but an EQ would have been a plus in the features, particularly when playing it in piano mode. I remedy the problem with an external system (an amp with a wide range EQ) and the problem is solved. The harpsichord and organ sound is fantastic! I have heard a great deal of real harpsichords and have never been very satisfied with the harpischord setting on many higher priced keyboards. Those who heard the keyboard were more amazed at the realistic quality of the organ than any other sound. I believe the piano sound needs some improvements, but a professional musician will know what to do to make it so. Other than that, the keyboard is a great product for the traveling musician, the teacher and the student who are looking for a lightweight keyboard that delivers a surperb sound at a very reasonable price. I cannot recommend this new Yamaha product enough. I am not well versed with keyboard actions, but can say one thing that may interest some players. The action is, in my opinion, a little stiff. It has the feel of the authenic grand piano action, and the dynamics are well executed and sound good. If one is an experienced harpsichord player the action seems a little more stinted (trills are a bit of a challenge, but one can adapt). The action suits the feel of a "real" pipe organ, but as in the real world, it is not impossible to adapt to these small differences. The parameters are limited, but still the typical keyboardist will find them adaquate. A value for the price paid. I would suggest this keyboard for the professional, the student and especially teachers.
