Incredible sound. No need to mod. It's ready out the box! Passive/Active switch is the real deal. There's a battery warning light in the back to let you know it's low. It will switch to passive if the active circuit's battery runs out.

This bass is amazing!!!! We play drop C and most of the bass’s iv played need to be set up for it or id get string buzz bleh!!! Not this guy such a well balanced setup right out of the box and the sound is amazing! For the price i really couldn't be happier! The pickups sound great and are really clear letting that low end just carry and push threw the mix! Found my bew favorite bass!

Yamaha makes good solid instruments of all types and this bass guitar is another good example. Good workmanship. This is a very good guitar for a beginner or intermediate musician.

Very nice bass at a great price , well built ,the neck is very comfortable fits nice in the body cavity ,body finished nicely . Electronics sound very quite and very useful , a peek inside the control cavity very neat wiring , only complaint is the input jack it looks like it could be a bit more rugged. The battery compartment is very good open the cover and the battery drops in that's it no little clips to break, thank you Yamaha!!Overall the bass is well worth the money the sound is great , it's light , well built, very quiet pickups, compares to bass that cost twice as much, it's a 5 star bass in it's price range , and it's a real active and passive bass to boot !!!
