It does basic video pretty well
Quality:
It seems to be made well but like almost all products of this type at this price point it it plastic. Of course most camera bodies are plastic anyway so if you are careless I don't know what to tell you. Mine came with a nice little padded bag which should keep in in good shape for may years with resonable care.
Features:
It has high quality stereo sound. Keep in mind it is a field recorder not a high end muti-track unit. You can't mix the sound internally afterwards. It would be nice if you could somehow change the input level of the light like on a film camera but again that would be a high end video camera feature.
Ease of Use:
It is easy to setup and use. The manual is helpful, but don't expect miracles from the software.
Sound:
The sound would probably be considered very good for what it is. Again it is basically a field recorder not a high end recorder.
Reliability:
I have only used it for a few months but so far it works fine.
Overall:
I think the main thing to keep in mind is whenever you shoot video YOU NEED LIGHT. If you are expecting MTV video quality hire a professional, this will not give you that type of result. It might seem cool to play in very low lighting or more romantic but it sucks for video. Especially with this camera. It's fine for setting out in front of your band or solo performance to create a simple utube type video for the internet. It would also be helpful for constructive feedback on your overall performance or mix at a gig.

Cool tool to use
Quality:
Still feels like the H2, plastic. You would want to get a hard case for going to place to place.
Features:
A lot of the features are like the H2 recorder. The simple mic gains, volume.
Ease of Use:
Very simple to use. Instructions were very easy to follow. Took about 30 minutes to get the hang of it.
Sound:
The sound is great. many choices to choose which sound quality to use.
Reliability:
So far from the use it has been reliable. But i'm a little afraid that the plastic casing it has could break anytime.
Overall:
Since its ease of use, great sound quality you can't go wrong with it. If you want to do serious video tapping, then you would want to get something more high end for that. The video, depending on the lighting has its limitations. But overall this is has serve the purpose I was looking for.

ZOOM Q3 The Price is Right!
Quality:
The unit is very well constructed and to date very dependable.
Features:
The best part is ease of use and being able to instantly review and download video to Youtube. I would add a remote control feature and a rechargeable battery pack.
Ease of Use:
The learning curve here was near zero. After turning it on...all else was there and self expanatory.
Sound:
The tonal reproduction is good, does require some EQ'ing for the final video.
Reliability:
I have been using it for over two monmths and not once has there been an issue. Always reliable.
Overall:
In my opinion for the price it is a great video tool. I ordered the competitor's unit and sent it back after taking it out of the box. The Zoom Q3 beats it in quality construction and ease oif use hands down!

the Q3 Rocks
Quality:
the Q3 seemed cheap only because it's light weight and the body is plastic. but to my amazement it can handle being dropped. (oops!) it's a great camera, with fantastic mics built in.
Features:
not many features but what do you need?
Ease of Use:
simple just press the rec. button and away you go.
Sound:
the sound is amazing enough can't be said about it.
Reliability:
i've only had the Q3 for a week and a half but so far so good. i've used it every other day and so far it's holding up great.
Overall:
excellent sound on the recording. my band recorded our show last friday and the sound was amazing. it sounded like i was standing there all over again playing live! the video does require a good light source. but all and all it wasn't to bad.

Zoom Q3
Quality:
Yes, this product is well made and very dependable.
Features:
The best feature of this product is the sound quality you get! The video is good too. Only thing is there is no adjustment for dark settings, but very happy with the recorder other than that.
Ease of Use:
This product very easy to use! It took no time at all to set up and start using it. The manual was helpful and simple to follow, but if you have used other video equipment, manual wasn't really necessary.
Sound:
The sound quality is very good. I didn't believe it until I recorded a band live and it was amazing sound quality.
Reliability:
I have only had the Zoom Q3 for about a month, but so far I don't see where there will be a problem with it holding up over time.
Overall:
This is a great product especially for the money. My husband is in a band and I use it to record them live every gig. The sound quality is awesome! Surprisingly, no background noise and very easy to use.

Features:

Ease of Use:
Very easy to use. A no brainer.
Sound:
Sound is awesome. No complaints!
Reliability:
I had mine for a short time before returning it. It seemed kind of cheaply made and a bit cheesey for the price. If it were $99, no problem. but for $250.00, I think it could be a little better made
Overall:
Here is the problem, indoors or any slightly low light setting, it is all but useless. I had a Par38 100watt light shining directly on me, and I was barley visible. There is no light settings or adjustments that I found at all. If it had the ability to film indoors it would be great! You can check out my turn the page clip and horse with no name on Youtube and judge for yourself.

Zoom Zoom Q3
Quality:
Well made, but clunky in design. I have a small hand.
Features:
The easy pull out USB drive conveniently connects to my laptop unlike the Flip which needs to be padded underneath. Rechargeable batteries or AC adaptor ad part of the deal and a sturdy Tourtek case.
Ease of Use:
I am a scientist but not that savvy with gadgets, yet I found Zoom Q3 very easy to use from the get go. I was first surprised that the enclosed leaflet/ manual was a tiny trifold but it had it all. It is superb for audio but video recording is best within 5-10 feet.
Sound:
Just as good as live.
Reliability:
Quite well. Everyone in my family is careful with it.
Overall:
A bit clunky to handle. I have owned it for 3 months now. No complaints, no problemo. But the catch is AA batteries drain even the unit is turned off. Second, uploading on YouTube, Myspace or Facebook happens very slow and I am not sure that uploading should be carried out when the recorder is to be plugged in to the computer. See, I am not that savvy but it does what I need it too- almost like a good housewife.

Formatting of cards
Quality:
If it came with AC adapter it would be more dependable....
Features:
Has a great camera and sound
Ease of Use:
If your going to use 32gig cards you may have a hard time formatting them...And when you do get them formatted, if you hit playback, they automatically go into a lock-up mode and won't payback..
Sound:
Not to bad at all..
Reliability:
Only had it a short time so I can not comment
Overall:
When using the smaller cards it works great just be wary of the large cards...Also when using both audio and video it eats batteries quickly..

Great Audio
Quality:
Seems to be well made. I've only had this for two weeks, so we'll see how it stands the test of time.
Features:
The mics and the audio is great. Didn't expect much from the video. Be sure that there is ample lighting in dark venues. I was concerned about the unit eating up batteries, so I purchased rechargeable batteries, which saves money. Just be sure to to set the correct battery type (alkaline or NiMH) to avoid problems. After each gig, I take out the batteries from the unit and put them into the charger which only takes 2 hours to recharge, plenty of time for the next gig! Also, upgraded the SD card for longer recording time. The audio / video selection is also great! You get longer recording time if you're just using the unit to record audio only. The HandyShare software is easy and simple to use.
Ease of Use:
Very simple and easy to use right out of the box
Sound:
Sound is amazing and is the best selling point for this unit. Love the sound this unit captures while playing through my Bose L1. Every nuance is captured!
Reliability:
Has worked great so far.
Overall:
Overall, I think this is a great product with exceptional sound, which is most important to a musician. I can live with the video features, even though it's not HD. If it were lost or stolen, I would purchase this product again.

Zoom Q3 review
Quality:
Seems real solidly bilt
Features:
Sound is fairly good; Want to be dead center for the X Y axis or else you pick up more on one side or the other. Video is so-so;; not HD at all; but tthen it isnt suppose to be; would be nice to have better picture; but with the size of the unit what do you expect
Ease of Use:
This product couldnt get much easier to use ; from recording to downloadong and editing. Deffinetly fot the MySpace youtube people. Even comes up in the software requesting if you want to download it to either site; just way to easy to use
Sound:
Sound is good; pretty much what you hear is what you get in 24 bit mode. Havent had the opportunity to try the other sound modes.
Reliability:
Wont know for another year or so; seems to be pretty solid; not cheaply made.
Overall:
For the working club muscian it works quite well for reviewing your last performance. Put it on a table and walk away; so small you got to be careful it doesnt walk away in a crowded club. Would be real nice if it came standard with a wall aort instead of the extra twenty bucks it cost for the OEM unit. Also a small adjustable camera stand /holder would be very useful if it came standard with the unit and a larger SD card; at least 8GB.
