Product Description

The Alesis DM5 Electronic Drum Set, designed for aspiring and pro drummers, includes the DM5 sound module, with its wealth of pre-programmed sounds and drum kits, along with five pads (snare, kick, two toms, and a hi-hat controller) plus two special cymbal pads.
Shipped with an included kick pedal, support stand, and interconnect cables, the DM5 Electronic Drum Set provides expressive feel and a rich collection of world-class sounds - making the DM5 the ideal drum/percussion solution for players at every stage of their musical career.

With a broad assortment of percussive timbres that range from sampled acoustic instruments through the most innovative electronic sounds, the DM5 sound module contains 540 percussion sounds and 21 pre-programmed drum/percussion sets. Recorded in true stereo at 48 kHz with ambient effects, the DM5 sound module provides a stunning assortment of instruments and percussive effects that will appeal to the most seasoned musicians—all in a single rackspace module. Featuring an ultra-fast trigger to MIDI conversion system with twelve trigger inputs and five programmable parameters for each trigger, the DM5 sound module’s feature set is comprehensive and provides drummers/percussionists with a wide range of control.

Alesis DM5 Electronic Drum Set Features

  • DM5 single rackspace sound module contains 540 percussion sounds and 21 pre-programmed drum/percussion sets
  • All sounds recorded in true stereo at 48 kHz with ambient effects
  • Dynamic articulation feature enables the DM5’s drum sounds to respond to the force with which the pad is struck - including volume, tone, and pitch
  • Random sample feature brings new life to static tracks by realistically varying the sound of the drum as it is played
  • Five playing pads (for snare, kick, plus two toms; a pad and foot controller for open/closed hi-hat)
  • Natural motion cymbal pads for ride and crash cymbals
  • Kick pedal included
  • Kit includes a rugged tubular rack system that supports the sound module and all pads
  • All necessary interconnect cables included

Adding even greater realism to its arsenal of sounds, the new DM5 Electronic Drum Kit includes Alesis’ proprietary Dynamic Articulation™ feature. Dynamic Articulation enables the DM5’s drum sounds to respond to the force with which the pad is struck. This enables the various sounds to change volume, tone, and pitch in the same manner that an acoustic instrument’s timbre varies when played soft or loud. Combined with the DM5’s Random Sample feature, which brings new life to static tracks by realistically varying the sound of the drum as it is played, the new DM5 Electronic Drum Kit provides stunning realism and makes this drum/percussion controller system a remarkably expressive instrument.

No electronic drum kit is complete without a responsive set of pads that enable drummers to articulate their craft in musical fashion, and in this regard, the new DM5 Electronic Drum Kit excels. The DM5 Electronic Drum Kit includes pads for snare, two toms, kick drum, and hi-hat. The hi-hat is controlled with a foot pedal that attaches via the sound module and facilitates switching between open and closed sounds. Further, the kit includes two natural motion cymbal pads that make it easy to configure the kit with ride and crash cymbals. Combined with a rugged tubular rack system that supports the sound module and all pads—plus the necessary cables to interconnect the system—Alesis’ new DM5 Electronic Drum Kit is ready to rock.

The DM5 Electronic Drum Kit is a tremendously versatile percussion sound module and controller system that enables drummers of all levels to practice quietly via headphones or perform on stage with a great assortment of sounds. With an extremely competitive price point, this kit will appeal to a wide range of players.

Great for the price.

Decent for the price.

Yes. You can not find a full drum set for this price and still get this sound. You might want to add a DB bass pedal and decent throne.

New To Drums - Good Place To Start

I have other Alesis products and they make good stuff. The quality of the kit looks good to my. Not flimsy at all. I'm not worried about braking it or anything.

The sounds sounded like drums to me. Though the choices in the module aren't all that spectacular and some I think I would never use, it is decent for the money.

I think this setup is great for the money, especially since the price went down. You a real kick pedal which the lower price models didn't have. You get a complete setup unlike the lower priced models too.

I'm impressed!

Your general opinion of this product.

QUALITY:
I was very impressed. This is a very, very complete kit. The kit seems sturdy, however, the rackmount does not seem all that secure (I have mine set above the kit just sitting on the poles.) The hh controller is flimsy and weak.

FEATURES:
Using the kit as a controller to the DM5 controller as well as a stack of other keyboards, drum machines, and processors, the possibilities are endless. The Midi settings are easy to adjust which is a big plus.

EASE OF USE:
It is very easy to assemble and use.

VALUE:
It actually exceeded my expectations and I have already bought some additional pads for the kit. This kit is nicely expandable.

SOUND:
The sound module is a bit dated, but there are some really good sounds nonetheless.

great fun for the price

Your general opinion of this product.

QUALITY:
hardware is cheap plastic but I guess you get what you pay for.

FEATURES:
The best thing about this unit is the alesis module that has been available for quite some time and its rackmountable so you can use it as a acoustic drum trigger in other applications. Another great feature is having 5 extra trigger outs so it is easy to expand to a larger set.

EASE OF USE:
Manual was a big pain due to lack of info for mounting the control module.

VALUE:
It is a great value for beginners or someone like myself who plays other instruments and needs a quick recording tool. You have to remember that the next price for a kit is the yamaha for 850.00

SOUND:
The 18 bit sounds are a little dated but sound better than any keyboard or drummachine available for about the same price.

Amazing Value

Your general opinion of this product.

QUALITY:
This is a prety cool little kit. The drum module is one of the "standards" as it has been around for ever, and many other drum kits (pentech for example) have kits bases on this same module. The rack it solid and the pads are thick and appear to be able to withstand some abuse.

FEATURES:
Like other folks have said, the DM5 module is the best feature of this kit.

EASE OF USE:
I haven't even opened the manual for the DM5 yet. It is that easy to use. The little booklet provides the build instructions could be better, however it is prety easy to figure out if you look at the pictures of the assembled kit on the box.

VALUE:
The best value for an electric kit. No, it is not as nice as a v-drum kit, but it also costs 3x less. Once you take into acount the price (and that most places will offer free shipping) it really can't be beat.

SOUND:
Sounds great. Again, in an electric kit you are triggering

More than you'll expect for $500.00

Your general opinion of this product.

QUALITY:
I find that one always wants more than what was paid for. This said, it's a sturdy rack and the pads appear well made. I don't believe you would have any significant problems with the hardware, however the screws that specifically keep the brain attached to the two poles that the brain hangs from are crap and should be replaced to insure that the brain doesn't slide off of the poles you're suppose to mount it to. The picture of the kit does not clearly define how easily the brain can slide off of the mounting poles. The kick pedal has good action. In total, this kit impressed me in terms of construction when measured against the price tag. It falls short of a rating of 5 because of the awful screws for mounting the brain.

FEATURES:
For comparably outfitted and priced brains, (Roland's TD3 and the entry-level Yamaha stuff, for instance) this brain is trumps its competitors. Yes there are a handful of sounds in it that have no Earthly bu
