With SampleRack, there’s no limit to your sonic creativity. Built-in are over 200 carefully-crafted drum, cymbal, and percussion sounds—each created by the professional Alesis sound design team. Sounds are arranged into ten preset drum kits for instant access during performance. For the performing pad player, SampleRack is equipped with eight dual-zone 1/4 inch trigger inputs. In addition, there are specialized Kick Drum and Hi-Hat pedal inputs. The Kick Drum pedal jack provides both switch and trigger options; the Hi-Hat pedal jack can be set for either switch or variable operation. Finally, all of the internal sounds can be accessed via MIDI for maximum versatility.

    Effortless Integration
Equipped with a standard USB port, SampleRack offers convenient single-cable connectivity with your computer. I purchased this unit for two reasons: price & functionality. My band, at the time, was just a four piece (GTR, Bass, DRM, Vocal), but we were ambitiously covering highly produced pop/hip-hop tunes ("Billie Jean," "Humpty Dance," "Loser," "Locked Out Of Heaven," etc.). I needed a unit that could play longer samples as well as single drum/cymbal sounds, and also one that had MIDI input & output, to trigger other sound modules, as well as being trigger-able from multiple remote units. This unit was that in spades! I made and edited my own samples with Audacity, loaded them on an SD card, assigned them to locations in a 'kit,' and I was up and running. I haven't used the Roland or Yamaha "brains' so I don't know how the tweak-ability compares. I will say this; I was triggering sounds on here with Ddrum, simmons, and Yamaha triggers/pads, and multiple M-Audio keyboards, and there was enough "tweak-ability" to make the sounds work with all those disparate sources. The coolest thing i
