Product Description

The Behringer FBQ2496 Feedback Destroyer Pro is the fastest (>0.2 sec.) and the only 96 kHz Feedback Eliminator on the market. Using an ultra fast feedback detection algorithm, it automatically and intelligently locates up to 20 feedback frequencies per channel and sets extremely narrow notch filters to destroy them, leaving the remainder of the signal virtually untouched.

Behringer FBQ2496 Feedback Destroyer Pro Features:

  • Automatically and intelligently locates and destroys up to 20 frequencies per channel
  • Ultra-fast feedback detection (>0.2 sec) due to proprietary FFT signal analysis
  • Ultra-narrow notch-filters (up to 1/60th octave) for very effective feedback suppression, while keeping highest sonic quality
  • Set-and-forget default setting plus Panic button enable immediate and super-easy Feedback Destroyer performance
  • Auto mode continuously monitors the mix, resetting programmed filters automatically
  • Single-shot mode automatically detects and destroys feedback and locks the filter until you reset it manually
  • Manual mode allows individual setting of up to 40 fully parametric filters with frequency, bandwidth and gain adjustment
  • Ultra-high resolution 24-bit/96 kHz A/D and D/A converter powered by a 32-bit DSP for ultimate audio performance
  • Open MIDI architecture for future software updates and flexible communication with digital equipment
  • Balanced inputs and servo-balanced outputs with gold-plated XLR and 1/4 inch TRS connectors
  • Internal switch-mode power supply for maximum flexibility (100 - 240 V~), noise-free audio, superior transient response plus lowest possible power consumption for energy savings
  • High-quality components and exceptionally rugged construction ensure long life
  • Conceived and designed by BEHRINGER Germany
Easy does it: with the Set-and-Forget default setting plus the Panic button, your Feedback Destroyer can be up and running in no time! The auto mode continuously monitors the mix, resetting programmed filters automatically, while the manual mode allows individual setting of up to 40 fully parametric filters with frequency, bandwidth and gain adjustment. Open MIDI architecture means that future software updates and flexible communication with digital equipment are a no-brainer. With its various modes you can master just about any live sound situation or use it as a creative sound-shaping tool.

works like a charm !
Seems very well made, no issues there
This unit kills feedback very fast, I owned the DBX 24 and this unit is just as fast and works just as good. Its half the cost, has more features and does its job just as well...this is a no brainer buy for anyone in a band that fears the dreaded feedback! Especially in the Monitors!
Its easy to use, run your outs from the mixer into this unit and turn it on, it does it automactically, you can set things like how many single shots you want vs auto etc but if you do nothing they will all be just automatic filters.I dont use the PEQ section as I have that in my driverack. This is a set and forget device ! you just know its always there blocking feedback. At the end of my bands sets I peak at it and can see just how many filters were deployed and sometimes Im amazed to see 12 or more lit up and I never heard the feedback that caused a filter to kick in, thats how fast it works! The freeze button isvery handy a simple press locks in the already activated filters until you press it again
The unit does ot affect the tone at all as far AS i can tell

Worked good to reduce feedback in my stage monitors
It looks well made. It's light weight. Uses a SMPS instead of a bulky noisy transformer. The insertion noise was barely audible. A lot of people bash Behringer. But I have a bunch of Behringer signal processors / mixers and have been pretty happy with them. I have never had a failure (knock on wood). And almost everything they make is half the price of the competition. I never set out to own a rack full of Behringer stuff. But every time I need a new piece of gear, the Behringer stuff boils to the top as the best bang for buck. I draw that line at amps and speakers, however. I don't have a ton of confidence they know their stuff in delivering robust amps/speakers relative to JBL, QSC, Crown, etc. But signal processing? Their stuff works great in my opinion.
Automatic feedback elimination. I'd add low-pass and high-pass EQ's to the fixed parametrics as an option.
It is not very intuitive to use. The manual is a poor translation from German to English and it's not very detailed. The true benefits of operation can't be easily tested in a simple way. But once I took the leap of faith and brought it to a gig and used it, it worked great. I set mine up in the monitor path between the sends of my board and the inputs to the powered monitors. I run stereo monitors with roughly the same mix as the FOH. During the sound check, I set the unit up to "learn". It immediately picks up as many as 20 notches during those sound check songs. I dial back to the top-10 filters and leave the other 10 spaces in "auto" mode so that it can automatically put new filters in as needed during the show.
Again, this unit's primary purpose is to reduce feedback in a live, ever-changing situation. For this, it seemed to work pretty well. I'd guess that I was able to get another 6-10dB of loudness out of my stage monitors - And, I didn't need to spend a half-hour sound-check with beads of sweat pouring from my head futzing with a 32 band EQ trying to squelch feedback. This works pretty well. I can't compare to other Feedback eliminator units since I've never used others, but what I can say is that this unit worked well enough to easily justify the $150.

Great - once set up correctly
Good quality, should hold up for many years if rackmounted.
Learn mode, easy to dial in the number of single shot vs. auto filters. Use more single-shot filters than auto - I use 15 single and 5 auto on mains and monitors. I used to use all auto - THIS DID NOT WORK WELL!
I've owned this product for two years. I also have a DSP1124 (Behringer). The 1124 was much simpler to use - take it out of the box, dial up the program you wanted, and the feedback was suppressed. The tone was also suppressed more than I wanted, and would reset the thing several times a set (5-6 times a night). This one, ONCE I READ THE MANUAL, worked GREAT!!! Set up about 15 single shot filters per channel, use the LEARN function, and the thing WORKS GREAT, without suppressing the dynamics from the sound.
Excellent - much better than the DSP1124

Feedback Generator
AMS was good, Behringer was not. This unit was initially DOA. Replaced the input fuse and it came to life, but it never did suppress feedback. Buy something else.
None - it never did work.
Terrible. Auto setup and suppression caused terrible feedback and popping sounds on my PA. I could not get the filters to engage at all.
My audio levels went down, not up. If I increased volume I got terrible feedback instead.
