Product Description

The Behringer MIC2200 Ultragain Pro is the perfect match for your best studio vocal or instrument microphones. Combining both tube and vintage transistor technology, Behringer has captured the warmth of the tube and quality of sound you have come to expect. Each channel features: 48V phantom power with soft ramp up, a tunable, 12DB-slope High Pass Filter(15-350Hx), phase reverse switches, parametric filter for detailed point metering, level translator(variable -20 to +20dB), 12 point metering with clip indicator. Also, servo-balanced 1/4" and XLR connectors, a 5-year warranty.

Like its predecessor, our new BEHRINGER ULTRAGAIN PRO MIC2200 is once again causing sensation. It's the ideal extension to you console, sampler, hard disk recording system or DAT recorder. The extremely low-noise, high-end 2-channel microphone/line preamp with its warm tube sound lends your most demanding instrumental and vocal recordings incredible detail resolution and musical warmth. Helpful supplementary functions and dramatically improved sound make the ULTRAGAIN PRO an indispensable addition to your outboard gear.

Back to the future: tube technology from BEHRINGER®
In today's digital world the classic tube sound is experiencing a surprising renaissance. In our continuing effort to react to your demands, we've integrated a 12AX7 vacuum tube into the ULTRAGAIN PRO MIC2200. In doing this we managed to create an effective symbiosis of tradition and innovation, to further develop traditional tube circuitry and adapt it to modern professional audio technology.

The best is just good enough for you: BEHRINGER®'s high-end parametric EQ
Parametric EQ's represent the state of the art in equalizer systems. That's why they're the perfect complement for the ULTRA GAIN PRO. Our parametric EQ allows you to adjust all filter parameters: center frequency, bandwidth and amplitude. The highly precise state-variable filter allows musical frequency correction as well as creative sound shaping. Frequency switching allows you to sweep the entire frequency range from 10 Hz to 20 kHz for exceptional flexibility.

"Notching out", the precise elimination of problem frequencies for feedback or hum removal without affecting neighboring frequencies, is one of many common and invaluable applications for this EQ.

BEHRINGER® has the solutions
Be honest: have induced interference or transmission losses due to lengthy cables ever made you want to scream (or worse)?
Here's the answer: the ULTRAGAIN PRO's "Direct Inject Box" function permanently commits these deadly effects to history, converting unbalanced instrument signals into clean, balanced signals. Another vital element is the soft mute function for the +48 V phantom power, which effectively suppresses switching noises and pampers your microphones, speakers and nerves. Low-frequency signals like impact noise can also deteriorate your audio quality and damage your gear. A switchable low-cut filter with a sweepable range from 15 to 320 Hz provides efficient low-frequency attenuation and removal of unwanted noise.

Applications unlimited: the ULTRAGAIN® PRO as a level converter
The ULTRAGAIN PRO provides excellent service when you need to convert home-recording levels (-10 dBV) to the professional standard (+4 dBu) – just one more example of its outstanding functionality.

ULTRAGAIN® PRO MIC2200: audio purity at its best!

MIC2200 vs. GAP Pre-73
What is your opinion of this product?
This $99 dual channel unit holds its own against the highly rated -- all the rave -- all over the internet -- single channel GAP Pre-73. I also use Behringer C-2 microphones. This $69 matched pair holds its own against $500 AKG mics and $200 Rode mics. I've owned them and tested them side by side.

Expands sound for less $$
Built well.
Tube warmth is 50% of the reason I bought it. Price was the other 50%.
Still fine tuning, but fairly easy to use.
Helps us out with our vocals, takes the strain off the mixer.
Only had it 2 weeks. Time will tell.

Pro product. . . . Pauper price!
Bullet proof! Top class product!
Very versatile! A bit difficult having jacks and plugs on rear of box. I don't use it mounted in a rack, so the script below the knobs was a bit difficult to read. Nice EQ features to isolate or increase needed frequencies.
Excellent documentation! After reading manual, was able to learn the parameters for the EQ settings and overall operation of device. Really helped pump up my two Sterling condenser mikes that needed just a bit more gain/applification for recording!
I'm sure it will be tip top! I've owned other Behringer effects boxes, and they are top notch designs!
Your general opinion of this product.
A lot for the money! Will be a very useful tool!

A great mic preamp
Your general opinion of this product.

QUALITY:
Well built although the rack ears are a bit crooked. They fit well in the rack fine. Otherwise excellent build quality.

FEATURES:
Please note there are two mic channels and two parametric EQs. The tube is shared. The next model up has a tube per channel and is built around tube sound with a warmness control that works well. The Ultragain Pro is a bargain as most Behringer equipment is.

VALUE:
Great value for money. A single channel with a tube and parametric EQ can't be found for much less. Having two mic inputs is a bonus. The sound is rich and surprising. Some people have a stigma towards Behringer's name. Don't be fooled. I'm using it for professional recordings and am satisfied completely.

SOUND:
Tube preamps at worst sound good. Even cheap ones can gain from a tube to warm up otherwise cold sounding to poorly designed inputs. You get good inputs and nice tube sound with great transparency.

Better than some reviews depict.
Your general opinion of this product.
Ok. I bought this on a whim for use as a Bass guitar preamp. I was taken by the price initially. After I ordered, I checked reviews at www.Harmonycentral.com and was very disappointed before it even arrived. ( I bought this on impulse like I said.) The reviews were for its use as a mike preamp. I am not using it this way... The first thing I noticed was that the tube is lit from the back by yellow LED's in the circut board. SCAM!!!! I instantly called AMS and obtained a RMA number. I took it to rehearsal anyway and was very impressed with the tube sound ( However subtle) with a Crown amp driving a SWR Goliath III. There is tube tone present that is perfect for a bass. Using this in my bass rig I'm getting a nice underlying tube growl without sacrificing clarity. You have to use its XLR input to unlock the gain stages but I got around this with a direct box.

Undecided
Your general opinion of this product.
Behringer products have allowed me to get up to speed with a lot of products I could not afford otherwide. When using as a mic preamp for digital recording with inexpensive Samson C01 Condensors, I get lots of gain and a warmer sound. I do have issues with noise for recording acoustic sources at a distance. I use it on inserts to tweak sounds as well. Get one of these until you can afford a more expensive 2-channel rack unit, and use it secondary unit after you can afford the upgrade.
